A balcony with a view
I was at La Defense this morning, the business area I often mention here. The weather was gorgeous and on the way out from the trade show I attended, I wandered a bit in search of photo opportunities. And when I saw this, I knew it was the one! I'm sure you recognize the Arc de Triomphe in the background. Anecdote? While I was calmly taking my photos, the Police were towing away a few scooters... Mine was on the list, but I arrived just in time!

You're brilliant! You got the photo And managed to sace your scooter too. This is indeed spectacular!
ReplyDeleteLOL Alexa
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Eric. I like very much the hazy gray Arc in the background with the rich green lawn in front, and the tiny pink flowers on the side.
ReplyDelete"save" your scooter. Can't type. Fake nails. Don't ask.
ReplyDeleteAnd there he was, putting along on Tiger's balcony...going instead with a drive from the green, bouncing it off the towering building to the left and then off the top of L'Arc...and then the police arrive and nearly confiscate his scooter. The fans go wild, shouting this is much better action then we've seen at The Open...LOL. Merci for this glorious view Eric. PS: Alexa, for a moment I thought I had the gold. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSpectacular, indeed!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteMust be true what they say... the grass is indeed always greener on the other side of the pond ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you rescued your scooter. They seem to be really cracking down on scooters on sidewalks these days.
Such a spectacular photo! I can practically feel the warm sun from here in foggy/rainy San Francisco. I once walked from Les Halles to La Defense because I was too cheap to pay for the extra zone 3 Metro fare. I think a scooter is a much better way to go! Glad you scooted away before yours was towed.
ReplyDeleteWow Spectacular. Cant wait to see it for myself.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great viewpoint for the end of the Tour de France!
ReplyDeleteGlad you saved your scooter, Eric. There oughtta be a law against towing scooters!
Barbscoot.
Very nice shot Eric !! I will be in the park in 21 days or so ;-)))
ReplyDeleteHave a great day :-)))))))))))

Beautiful! I know that the weather is just perfect in Paris this days (21 °C) so lucky you!
ReplyDeleteEric ~ In La Defense of the scooter. Oh, what the creative mind must risk for their art. The image is just beautiful on a sunny June day.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else want to take off their shoes and dance across the lawn? Lol...
Wow the Arc de Triomphe looks huge from this angle. Congratulations on saving your scooter from "les flics."
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely photo, Eric.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you "rescued" your scooter before it was too late! I would have felt so guilty, since it is obvious you were doing this for us! :)
what a nice place to tee off from.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! This is my new background pic. Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect. Paris shimmers, even in the daytime. I love it!
ReplyDeleteEric, is there lawn in La Défense ???
ReplyDeleteKatie, walking from Les Halles to La Défense must be at least 2 hours! I hope the weather was like on Eric's shot ;-)
Glorious shining shot.
ReplyDeleteI could soooo live with a view like this!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm a tad bemused, though. I thought Eric's scooter was already on its way to me ... ET Suzy? Phx? I sold my car last week in anticipation ... bought some fetching antique goggles and a pre-loved Hermès scarf...
To distract myself, I'll congratulate Alexa! Some pink roses for the crown? With a little bird as well? {I'd love to ask about the nails, but I'll refrain.}
La Defence is on my list of things to do, as I have never made it over there yet. Looks like a great place to take Mr. Phx and make out.(Yeah, two over 50's---edging 60).
ReplyDeleteOH Paris - you are SOoooo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIs it grass on this balcony ? Only in Paris....!
Phew - I've rescued my car in the same way sometimes! Glad you did Eric. This is a wonderful view. I'd quite like to see what it's like if you walked forward to the edge and pointed the camera down, too. I'd probably faint as I'm not good with heights, but I'd like to know.
ReplyDeleteLucky!
ReplyDeleteYou and us!
I love it! You've given us "space to think" in this photo. Thank you...
ReplyDeleteActually, Lynn, I rescued our car once by jumping in with my toddler and infant even as the Traffic Nazi was hitching it up to the tow truck. A crowd gathered, cops were called, I nursed the baby, the TN unhitched the car!
ReplyDeleteEric, you are AMAZING! This photo is fantastic and will make my sister, Mish squeal with glee! She adores the Arc almost as much as I adore my beloved Eiffel Tower! Thank YOU, darling man.
ReplyDelete@Ann Reeves. I thought of you when I took it (seriously). You told me once there were not enough broad view photos on PDP!
ReplyDeleteI love how this photo makes the Arc look so huge. Wow, great shot.
ReplyDeleteHi from New York everyone! I feel like I've been disconnected from my daily fix by being without email many days. : ) I'm so glad to find out that Monica is ok. I was stunned to think she might not be.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is definitely going on my slideshow when I get back home. Its beautiful! : )
Did you think of me too Eric? LOOOOL!!
ReplyDeleteEric I think you should put a link here to the towing thing you put on FB, considering Alexa's comment... ;)
PHX, Paris loves lovers of all ages.
ReplyDeleteI thought of another person who has loved us and left us: Pont Girl! I miss her. She's probably busy with her career. She's had so much to do lately. Carrie might know. I hope to see her again soon.
Shell Sheree, you won't believe what happened! As I was packing up the scooter, a team of gens d'armes in full riot gear swooped down on me, forced me face-first into the cobblestones and secured Eric's scooter in a waiting van. Next thing I know, Carla Bruni herself was standing over me, digging one Christian Louboutin stiletto into my temple. She whispered, "Je ne pense pas, madame." I was held there, face down, until the van and Carla disappeared out of sight, in the direction of the 9th Arr.
ReplyDeleteLOL Suzy!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOh Pont Girl, yes. She'll be back though I am sure.
ET Suzy ~ LOL!!! Easy come, easy go, I guess. Thank you for taking a Louboutin in the temple for me ...
ReplyDeleteSuzy & Shell -- and now it is Carla who rides around Paris on the scooter of the fameux bloggeur Tenin!
ReplyDeleteOui, Alexa ... zut alors!
ReplyDeleteEric scotter man - great l'arc de triomphe photo! Wonderful Le Defense view of Paris' famous monument. Someone told me you do "blogger picnics" - c'est vrai? Bonjour d'EAGAN Daily Photo
