Lunch at Colette

I don't think I ever told you about "Colette". Not this Colette, but the store named Colette, at rue Saint Honoré (#213). It's a very trendy place where a lot of avant-garde stuff are shown for the first time before hitting "normal" retail. I went there today for the launch of a new service by Blackberry and took advantage of   my visit to try the buffet! Since it's a trendy place, the food is trendy too... Hence a Canelé "wrap" stuffed with foie gras and apple to die for (see here)!

  1. I bet you'll have done Angelina's too on the rue de Rivoli, no? I love that place not only for its amazing architecture but coz my daugher's named... hey, did you guess? Cute shot - so much white apart from the food!

  2. Do they serve food there now, or was it just for your fete? I only remember a water bar with tons of labels to choose from. I do not purchase water.

The top floor leaves you reeling with new ideas to try with your own clothes. Their's cost too much!!!!
Colette is the mother of all concept stores, like Merci in Paris ,and many other cities.

Colette also had a pop up store in NYC at the 5th avenue GAP, last year.

  3. Oh,they look lovely, lovely. Too bad they didn't think of a special something which you could have eaten (you know, for launch) featuring a blackberry! ; )

  4. Oh, look—French sushi! Canelés are my absolute dead fave! Went on a press trip to Bordeaux and even better than all the fabulous wine they gave us were these yummy things. Lucky you, Eric.

  5. Okay, showing me a fois gras and apple "wrap" when I can't get one is just cruel. :)

  7. I've never had a canele, but I think I could eat more than one. ;-) Although on principle I don't partake in foie gras. I still say you are a lucky man to surround yourself in all that artistic food and say it is part of your job. Me, I've got vending machines. Ugh! Yes, "lucky" is such an understatement.

  11. WEll I am proud to say I've been to Colette. It's a bit "young" pour moi but I did love looking all around. I really wanted to take some photos of the upstairs area where the dresses were all on mannequins around the room. Somehow I just got the feeling they wouldn't be all that happy for me to do that, so I didn't even ask! :)

  12. When food is that pretty it almost doesn't matter what it tastes like.

  13. You're really too cruel, today, Eric... So nice and appetizing "petites choses à grignoter", ... on a Lent friday.... too cruel ;-)

But tell us, what is this new service by BB ?

  14. I always love your photos but I can't say the same for the new format - I feel like I'm reading a cheap newspaper when I see the headlines. The other version was softer and more appealing and reminded me more of Paris. The new format could be anywhere but Paris. Sorry, I had to comment. I like the other features though!

  15. Miam Miam!!
Antoine et Lili and now Colette, how posh Eric!
I never ate there but I kind of like the shop, if not the prices. You can find some limited editions of books or clothes and new ideas if you have presents to buy. It's also always full of tourists! :)

  19. So great! It is exactly what makes me crack... The only disadvantage is that when there is not any left in the plate, we only want a thing : ask for more and more...!
    Nice :)

  20. And, Petrea, if food tastes good it doesn't matter what it looks like! Let's strive for both!

Anyone going to be in Paris early June? I'll be there 2 - 7 June. Let's meet for....?

  21. Petrea: and if food tastes good, it doesn't matter what it looks like. Let's strive for both!

BTW: anyone going to be in Paris 2-7 June? Let's get together for...?

  23. @Sab "I bet you'll have done Angelina's too on the rue de Rivoli, no?" You bet we have!

@PHX "Do they serve food there now, or was it just for your fete?" Well this was only for my "fete" (LOL!) but apparently they also have a restaurant where they used to have the water bar (don't know if they still have it, sorry...). Colette is a marketing genius, yes!

@Alexa " Lucky you, Eric." Sometimes, yes ;-)

@Kat "Okay, showing me a fois gras and apple "wrap" when I can't get one is just cruel. :)" LOL!

Coltrane "I've never had a canele, but I think I could eat more than one. ;-) " They are to die for, believe me Coltrane.

@Thib " So nice and appetizing "petites choses à grignoter", ... on a Lent friday.... too cruel ;-) LOOOOOOOOOL. New service by BB. I hate to spit in the soup - as we say in French - (that is say something bad about a person or a company that is good to you) but they are really lame: one BB chat - which only works with BB owners and a ping service that allows you to ping someone you see in the street or in a disco (providing he, or she, displays his or her ping number on a button - that will precisely be given for free at Colette during a week). I told you, lame!

@jkg "I always love your photos but I can't say the same for the new format - I feel like I'm reading a cheap newspaper when I see the headlines. " Yes, I know, some people don't like the new template, but I had to change a bit. First I want to provide more info about Paris and I was really fed up with the old dots format!

@Guillemette. "Antoine et Lili and now Colette, how posh Eric!" You sond so British Guille... I thought you had American English lessons these days...

@Flore "we only want a thing : ask for more and more...!" LOL I won't be throwing the first stone though.

@Jeff. June 2 to 7?! Well people there you go. This is when the next PDP picnic will take place!
