Paris Safari...

Today, almost like every year, I went to the "largest farm in the world", that is the "Salon International de l'agriculture", a trade show dedicated to farming and farmers... It's a very popular show as the French love their farmers - even though they only count for 3.5% of the GDP (vs 7% 30 years ago...). It was really fun to see the numerous kids playing with the cows, the sheep, the tractors... This year I chose to show you this cute little goat that became the star of the podium for a while ;-) No need to go to Africa to see animals!

  2. Very cute. How did you get her to look right at you?

So the French hate the Parisians and love the farmers? Interesting.

  9. Sven was unhappy and I asked him why.
Well, he said, I've helped people all my life. When my neighbor's fence broke, I fixed it. Did anyone say "Sven the fence fixer"? No.
When my other neighbor's cattle got loose and I caught them and returned them to his farm, did anyone say "Sven the cattle catcher"? No.

But, if you screw one goat...

  11. I was just thinking of Eric while reading the morning news. I saw that this yearly event was in progress again. And I said to myself, I bet Eric will be there taking photos as he has done in the past. TaDa, and like magic, here is his adorable little goat photo. :)

  13. After a safari in Kenya, I bet these poor animals coming to Paris from our French country may have seemed a bit sad to you Eric. This cute goat could feel better in other circumstances, couldn't he?
Actually I'm saying 'he' because of Tomate and Monica previous comments talking about 'he' but I never know what to use with animals: it? she? he?
Well if I compared to a translation from French, that would do 'she' as a goat is 'Une chèvre' ;)
Hug anyway to the cute goat.
I'll go and see Invictus tonight (a bit from Africa). Off the topic, okay :)

  15. So, did you see Nicolas Sarkozy or Chirac cuddling up to any of the animals (I saw the latter kissing kids - of the human type!) and the former snarling at agressive farmers!

I've just rediscovered some of the famous 'Crazy Cows' (do you remember them?) at a new shopping centre near where I live in Arcueil, called, appropriately, La Vache Noire (the Black Cow) - I'm sure you know it!

  16. Eric,
How funny is this. I know a man from NC that makes handcrafted sheep, cows etc and he is there right now at the exhibition! I'm going to photograph some of his animals at a local antique shop. I'll email you when I post them. Oh and he does goats as well. Maybe even this cute one here today.
