Not a big Paris scene today, just something to make you smile ;-) A few facts an figures though: In France wearing a helmet on a motorbike (on any two-wheel vehicle with an engine actually) has been compulsory since 1973. Not wearing one costs 135 €...
I guess if you could call a motorcycle helmet "cute" that would be the one!
ReplyDeleteLike children would say : "c'est CHOU ....... !!!".
ReplyDeleteFunny to think that 40 years before now, no helmet was needed. Seems just incredible in the current context. Now that a helmet is compulsory, I wish many kisses from many colored lipsticks would go to your helmet or even to a little smile on your face...!
BTW, you could add a 'l' in the word popuar ;)
Love that! I'm your newest follower and rss subscriber...
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the party, Madge!
ReplyDeleteIt got a big smile from me! But aren't you tempted to go get one just like it?
ReplyDeleteThis brings a big smile to me, too :-)
ReplyDeleteEric, you don't have to buy one of these. Buy a white one. I will cheerfully decorate it for you the next time I'm in Paris, although it might be a while. oops. Did I say that out loud?
ReplyDeleteBonjour Eric!
ReplyDeleteI have often wanted to ask you about scooters/motorcycles in Paris, and this post seems like a good time. As a former motorcyclist (I was on my 3rd motorcycle before buying my first car), I know how harsh riding in the cold weather can be. I have seen many scooters in Paris with "aprons" that keep riders warm up to their waists. I saw only a few covered scooters - mostly the larger BMW scooters with windshields and roofs but open sides. I would think that more scooter owners would want more coverage in the cold months.
Have you tried a covered scooter? How do you stay warm?
Just curious,
-Jeff
SMILES from me in Stavanger/Norway too:)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteA helmet with kisses
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is,
each and every day
to send him on his way,
his devoted missus
administering gros bisous
and whispering "bonne journee"
Wow many kisses and many smiles :)
ReplyDelete-> Drummond, your "whispering" bonne journée is so "poo-poo-pee-doo" ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~!!
-> Sasho : you made me smile too !!What about whispering kisses then ? Quite nice
This may be the most WANTED man in the city ... Did you also check his shoes, pants, jackets ? Is he one of your relatives, Eric ;) ??
haha popular indeed! interesting that the helmet law has been in use for so long there. here it's only been in like the last 10-15 years? and i don't even think it's national. so many people complain about it too.
ReplyDeleteThe kisses reminds me of Oscar Wilde's tomb festooned with bright red smacks all over it.
ReplyDeleteYou guys crack me up!
ReplyDeleteA destiny !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteStreets can be humpy,
ReplyDeleteCobblestones bumpy,
And stop-and-go traffic is work.
She's tall, and quite grumpy.
Her lips are all lumpy.
"Please drive us more smoothly, you jerk!"
Great idea for a cool scooter ride on Valentine's Day. Love it!
ReplyDelete@Lucie "Like children would say : "c'est CHOU ....... !!!". " C'est très Chou et cute @Lydia!
ReplyDelete(BTW, you could add a 'l' in the word popuar ;) - I did, thank you!!
@Madge "Love that! I'm your newest follower and rss subscriber..." Well, welcome here Madge ;-)
@Alexa "But aren't you tempted to go get one just like it?" I am especially since they stole man about a month ago...
@Sasho "Eric, you don't have to buy one of these. Buy a white one." Awwwwwwww, that is so cute to say!
@Jeff (Mings) - Hey Jeff! "Have you tried a covered scooter? How do you stay warm?" Well, no I have never tried. the BMWs are only 125 cc and they're quite expensive (and don't exist anymore! - I mean they don't make them anymore). Besides it's never VERY cold in Paris, and a trip within Paris never lasts more than 20-30 minutes so it's bearable. Mostly, only my fingers suffer; I have tried everything but no gloves are warm enough to protect your hands when it's really cold outside.
@Gunn Talking about cold, are there many scooter drivers in Stavanger ?!
@Drummond. you're such a poet. It'd been a long time ;-)
@Cn " Did you also check his shoes, pants, jackets ? Is he one of your relatives, Eric ;) ??"' Nope. Just a random guy...
"and i don't even think it's national. so many people complain about it too." No, in Florida for instance it's not compulsory. It always freaks me out when I see a biker without a helmet down there.
@PHX "The kisses reminds me of Oscar Wilde's tomb festooned with bright red smacks all over it" True! But not anymore, it's protected now.
@Jeff. And another poet today ;-)
I understand you need gloves Eric and I am not surprised at all (my hands are often colder than anything else)!
ReplyDeleteHave you already tried silk gloves under any kind of warm gloves? It worked well while I was skiing so I think it couold work too while scooting.
