I fell in love at first sight with these window bars when I saw them near Pigalles, where I had to get something for my camera. When you live on the ground floor (Le rez-de-chaussée in French) in a big city like Paris, you'd better install bars at your windows to avoid that burglars jump into your apartment, but to avoid feeling like you're in jail, you'd better invest in nice ones, like these ones... FYI, last year, there has been 1 117 burglaries in Paris, which is not that much considering there about 1,3 million apartments in Paris, but still... I lived once on the ground floor and did not have bars at my windows - I was broken into once!

Love the design of the ironwork.
ReplyDeleteFunctional and aesthetically pleasing. The perfection of design.
ReplyDeleteI love the golden light and the blue tinge of the cobblestones. It looks very welcoming - except to burglars.
ReplyDeleteThese are very nice looking if one must have them. With the lights on if I was walking by I would stop and take a peek inside; there really does not seem to be any privacy.
ReplyDeleteIndeed beautiful wrought iron work. I like the subtle colors coming from behind.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThese bars are so nice that someone stole them last night.
ReplyDeleteAs far as windows with bars are concerned, always better to be outside looking in than 'inside' looking out IMO.
Beautiful and stylish!
ReplyDeletePS. I love the windows/doors upstairs too:)
As beautiful as these window grilles are, I'd much rather be on the top floor—and worry about someone coming in from the roof, I suppose. :~}
ReplyDeleteSuch an atmospheric and inviting shot. The light coming through the windows dissolves the harshness of the bars and, they are very beautiful. I want to be in Paris NOW!
ReplyDeleteJ'ai aussi véçu à le bas, les premières années quand j'ai déménagé à Barcelone. J'avait le sentiment d'être en prison, parce que les fenêtres avaient des barreaux, et je me sentais tout le temps observé.
ReplyDelete@Drummond "These bars are so nice that someone stole them last night." LOL
ReplyDelete@Raquel "Tout le temps observéee Vraiment??
Eh bien, pour ainsi dire ^O^)/
ReplyDeleteI loved them also... instantly. Thanks for showing them.
