That's an awesome picture. It really emphasizes the ramp and shows how precariously the skateboarder is positioned. I love that it's in black and white.
The cement looks more like the fabric of a large sail. With outstretched arms the skateboarder soars into space. It must be exhilarating to experience such virtual flight.
As is so often the case here, the composition is eye catching.
Like he's skating on cloth borne by the wind. I agree, I'm glad you chose B&W for this.

Cool action shot, Eric! I used to date a skater-boy in the 80's when I was in junior high - and he used to love to ride ramps like this! Ah, the memories of puppy love :)

Wow, perfect timing on your photo! I've got 3 skateboarders at home and grew up in the skateboard era when all the kids in my high school were skaters (or surfers) or usually both!
We've taken my oldest to the skateboard park a few times and he loves it! Didn't know the kids were into it there too, another new thing I've learned from your photos!

Eric, you always use the B&W advisedly, it makes the picture stronger and attracts the look on the main thing. I really like this picture, very refined. Great.

Eric, I've taken another look at this photo and another thing strikes me about it besides the free flow quality, the fabric, the sail. It's the simplicity. There are so few elements: the "track," the athlete, and the skateboard. That's it. Or so it would seem. But then you've also got sky, wind, movement, even the sound of the skateboarder's wheels on cement (or whatever the surface is). There's so much in this simple picture! It's a good thing you didn't add color, too, it would have been overwhelming.

Actually Guille, I try to use B&W as little as possible, because like I said here last year or so, I think B&W photos are "lazy" photos. Sometimes, you have no choice, it just looks better in black and white.

Recently, I saw the same kind of ramp, covered by snow, for snowboarders ; that is very spectacular, too. I always hope it is not too risky for them ... Going higher and higher : a good motto for these champions!
Besides all the movement I feel in the picture, it is the tension of the moment that you captured so well.
To answer Petrea's question above: I wanted to be first because when there is a new posting of Eric's with zero comments it gives one a chance "To go where no one has gone before," but I feel uncomfortable being lauded for that. Better to let someone like Michael take the prize.
So Eric you're a perfectionist? Well, your goal is constantly achived then because for us you're photos are always perceft!
