365 photos so far and many more to come...
I was not going to celebrate PDP's birthday without a birthday cake was I? So here it is: a tarte Tatin (famous French desert) just out of the oven with one candle on it. I took it tonight while I was having dinner at my friend's Jerome who has this wonderful view on the Sacré Coeur (hard to see in the background this time!). I have had a wonderful time posting these pictures for one year and I surely will continue another 365 days... But most of all I really would like to thank you all for your stimulating comments that I enjoy reading everyday.
PS: PDP has already received anniversary "gifts", have a look!

ReplyDeleteSome readers may not know the history of the Tarte Tatin, the "upside-down apple tart", which is worth telling. It was invented in France in the 19th Century by the Tatin sisters, who ran a hotel. Exactly how they came to invent it is less certain, but one version has it that they used to flirt a lot with the customers and one day forgot and left some apples and sugar in a pan too long as a result, and they caramellised. Rather than throw it away (being the frugal hotelkeepers that they had to be, they put the pastry that had been ready for the base over the top, cooked it off, served it and discovered that they had created something quite special. I've got this inclination to start a food blog - I might just use this as the excuse!
Happy birthday Eric!

ReplyDeleteI think that just because it's your blog's birthday and everything, well, just for this time, you should be awarded a damn DAY OFF! Aren't there labor laws in france that prohibit people from working 365 days a year, even for a good cause? ;-)

ReplyDeleteGee Eric, I've been away several hours and then see you have 68 (now 69) comments! That must be a record for you and over a photo that really celebrates your accomplishment. People realise how much time this takes to do, and the other city daily photo blogs have really taken off. Congrats again, and maybe now this will tempt someone to be number 70 in your comments!
ReplyDeleteYou even made it onto Loïc Le Meur's blog. Now that IS recognition!

En Français
I imagine that makes me comment no 70 aussi!
70? Are you kidding? Let's go for 100!!! Come on people! :)
