Traditionally towards the end of March, the water level of the river Seine starts rising. Well, it is happening right now as you can see in this shot. Passers by can still walk down the embankment, but at their own risk of being splashed! Pretty soon they are also going to close the road where they had the
Paris Plage event last summer, if you remember.
I'll bring a snorkel next week (one week from today - woo hoo!)
ReplyDeleteOne week from today I won't be in Paris... but five days from today I will! :) Gonna pack a snorkel, too!
ReplyDeleteOoooh. I'm almost speechless at the beauty of this photo. I bet eric wishes I'd be totally speechless though.
ReplyDeleteEric, I really enjoy your blog but haven't been able to tell you so because my browser wouldn't let me leave a comment, so I've switched browsers!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely photo, but they're all good; thanks for bringing me my daily hit of Paris.
Question for you lovely French speaking people: How do you say "Sir, would you please stop at the Eiffel Tower" in French?
ReplyDelete(Don't ask, I just need to know and I don't 100% trust Babel Fish! Thanks.)
Great photo. The trees appear to lean toward the river.
ReplyDeleteSoosha : "pouvez-vous vous arreter a la tour Eiffel s'il vous plait"
ReplyDeleteIt must be a nice warm day. The young man is wearing only a tee-shirt. Also, it looks a bit dangerous. If you slipped and fell in, then what?
ReplyDeleteManifestement il n'y a pas que la Seine qui est le sur point de déborder...
ReplyDeleteAh...the Plage, I remember once talking to the chief of a magazine publisher here and he spoke very highly of the city of Paris for this event!
ReplyDeleteSplish splash - it's spring!!
ReplyDeleteI must try to find a way of showing the high tide on the thames!
ReplyDeleteHigh tide on the Rhine again as well (but not as high as a few weeks ago yet). Nice b&w shot!
ReplyDeleteit shoul be fun, i think!
ReplyDeleteEwwww ... being splashed by the Seine is pretty bad! That Seine water isn't the cleanest!
ReplyDeleteEric,
ReplyDeleteYour artistic eye is so apparent in this shot. I simply LOVE the composition --the curve of the bank, the rhythm of the row of trees, the values of light, the guy in his shirt sleeves telling me it must be nice indeed in Paris today. . .ah, merci, Eric, merci! Just beautiful work. BTW, those knarly tree roots on the cobbles make it look like the trees are walking down to the river's edge en masse to take a sip!
-Kim
Nice b&w and good info too.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to learn about Paris through your lens! - Nice blog
