Frankly with a sign like this dog owners cannot pretend they did not know this freshly cut green lawn was only for humans! I found this colorful sign close to the Arts et Métiers museum, a place where I will take you later. For your information there are about 200,000 dogs in Paris and as far as the "gifts" they leave on sidewalks is concerned (I know you're dying too ask!) the situation has improved a lot, thanks to a better education of dogs owners.
Poor dogs.. I bet this fresh green lawn would be a great playground for our furry friends!
ReplyDeleteNice colours! (Go Portugal...!)
Great shot, colors, lines (round and vertical, green plane). I'll be staying about three blocks from the Musee Arts et Metiers. I'll look for the sign. Hey, Tomate, GG, Michael, Eric: how about a picnic lunch at the Jardin du Luxembourg on Friday, June 9? We could meet at the Medici fountain and fall in love with Galatea, again. If lunch is bad, maybe after work? June 8 or 7 would work, also.
ReplyDeleteOh, please don't remind me. I had to stop pretending not to be able to read the "Perros No" sign in Spanish when they put up the "No Dogs" sign in English too at our (deserted, sandless, perfect for a dog) beach. Yeah, the "gifts" are a problem: I always make sure mine has already "donated" before taking her out to anywhere such as that, but the poor doggies do need areas to play too.
ReplyDeleteOh, my, poor dogs! This must be like taking someone in a diet inside a pastry shop!! Also, since when are humans allowed on lawns in Paris? Isn't this supposed to be "pelouse interdite?"
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile in San Francisco ...

do they fine dog owners who do not pick up after their dogs? i know they do where i live, if you get caught. i'm glad to see the problem getting better...i don't own a dog but i always give owners the evil eye whenever i see them not cleaning up their dogs' mess. it's most annoying! i also get upset when people bring their dogs to beaches that have no-dog policies during certain months.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! I like the perspective.
ReplyDeletei think the situation has improved also because of those guys dressed in green who drive those small vehicles that vaccuum up what the dogs leave behind.
ReplyDeletethey make a nice "vvvvffft vvvffft" noise. <- the vehicles, not the dogs!
At the end of the day, this is how it should be.
ReplyDeleteDogs, as loveable as they are, do not do good things in public places.
When you go to the beach for a day of relaxing and maybe swimming around, you don't want to have to put up with a dog running all over the show, doing his business as and when he pleases, barking, etc. etc. etc
There are places for humans, and there are places for dogs.
great catch--things are still a problem here but I do see more and more people with plastic bags picking up thier dogs 'presents'!
ReplyDeleteParadise, thanks for the tip. I will try the evil eye next time I see a violation.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live, not only must owners pick up les crottes, but dogs must be on a leash outdoors unless they are in a fenced public dog park or designated dog play area. The dog owners are the most assiduous at policing "bad" dog owners who don't obey the local laws. Some dog owners I know carry extra plastic bags to give to anyone they see failing to pick up.
ReplyDeleteo my god! if this is an improved situation i would HATE to have been here before it changed!
ReplyDeleteBravo !
Now they have to teach dogs how to read.
ReplyDeletethat sign looks huge...but I'm guessing it's just the perspective. until all dog owners learn to be responsible and clean up after them, then sadly these signs will still be necessary
ReplyDeleteIt's more peer pressure, a sense of courtesy of the owners, eventually there will be less need for such big signs.
