World cup waiter

Yesterday evening France played its first World Cup match against the Swiss. Nobody came out as the clear winner except the bars and cafés... Around 5 pm, people started leaving the office (people usually work until 7 - 7:30 pm in Paris) and sat in a cafe or on a terrace where they could see the TV screen. In some bars, even the waiters were wearing the French football team colors, like in the Café Brébant on the Grands Boulevards (9th arrondissement).

  1. Nice photo Eric. Got to say France were not good against the Swiss, the match could have been won by either teams.I've noticed you still haven't published the photos from the DP party, would love to see them.

  5. Brat: Ice cream goes with yesterday's picture as well.

Eric: I know the feeling. I have loaded my hundreds of Paris photos onto the computer, but haven't looked at them yet. Life gets in the way. Or, as John Lennon said, life is what happens when you're making other plans.

  6. Eric, are you sure this waiter isn't one of the players moonlighting just in case he loses his job on the team?

The game was evenly matched which reflected in the score of 0-0, but I didn't like the way Zidane just walked off the field at the end without shaking the other players' hands. The Swiss team even stayed on the field and made a big scene about thanking their fans while the French team went back into the locker room with their heads down.

  8. "Glaces & Sorbets"… much more than the World Cup, that was the big deal of the last two days to me ! Glad it's getting a little cooler today. I might even accept an invitation for dinner at a terrasse instead of hiding in the countryside !

  9. My husband was GLUED to the TV!
He was disappointed in the 0 - 0 score, but I'm sure France will have the opportunity to win other matches!

  11. Oh, how I wish I could be relaxing in a small cafe in Paris right now, watching the foot traffic go by....

Best of luck to France in the World Cup! Don't let the zeros get you down.

  12. I agree with Michael, the French players felt they were not good, and their behaviour became all the more unsportive, even between them.
The Swiss did a great job!
Let's the winner win, and let us have an ice-cream in front of the TV.

  13. Follow-up after the France-Korea match...

Les Bleus don't seem to act much like a team, but a group of individuals. What a shame. However, the Koreans seemed to really enjoy themselves on top of ending in a tie! I want to support you France, but...

Maybe with Zidane out next game they'll play more seriously...

  15. With regard to viagra and erectile dysfunction, it is already apparent that Viagra was first developed as a treatment for angina but later the drug emerged to be a suitable cure for male impotency but far more striking news is presently capturing the attention of the whole world. Seems Untrue! Well, it is doubtlessly true that oysters fed with the anti-impotency drug Viagra has shown effective results against erectile dysfunction and George May, the Australian farmer who created Viagra oysters became thoroughly popular after the news relating to the efficacy of his Viagra oysters leaked out. Guys! If cheap viagra can make oysters so powerful against erectile dysfunction then why won’t you be able to combat your impotency successfully after you buy viagra? Opt for Viagra via viagra online and once you buy Viagra online and administer the drug in accordance with the instructions of the doctor, you would instantly get cured of erectile dysfunction!
