The big ferris wheel is back

Between the end of June and August, there is usually a small - very small - amusement park in the Jardin des Tuileries (on the Louvre side). Its main attraction is a huge Ferris Wheel, located on the Louvre side of the gardens. Last evening, on the way back from a house warming party of a friend I photographed it just at dusk. The sky was cloudy but still a little blue, it was really stunning. I'm not sure I managed to catch this scene exactly as I experienced it though.

  1. AAaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! When we spent 9 days in Paris, we walked through the Tuileries every night - and I can happily say that this was the first Ferris Wheel that I ever rode! The view was amazing... thank you, Eric, for the memories!

  3. Eric, you certainly have a way with skies. This is gorgeous, gold against a blue background. Have you ever been on the ferris wheel?

  7. Wow! Eric has a twitter account ~ @etenin.

Warm summer nights, holding hands and... kisses.

I love the image, it reminds me of my first kiss... yep on a ferris wheel.

  10. Ooooh, Eric! Its beautiful!! Beautiful!!!

I didn't know that there were two ferris wheels so close together during the summer. So, now I have another photo request, Eric - maybe you can find some upper floor location where you can capture both in one shot. That would be a both a beautiful and very unusual shot of Paris.

  11. I'm assuming the other ferris wheel is still up in the Place de la Concorde - do they have that one running, too?

  12. On another topic, I just want to say that I've been checking in on Amir's site and there has been no further word. Of course, he may need to stay silent. I just hope that he won't be forgotten.

  13. Not that anyone will care about the truth, but here's a link about that photo someone so *helpfully* lined to yesterday.

  14. Aahh! Lovely. I'd like to be right at the very top on the Ferris wheel, looking down on the Jardin.

  15. Now, see, Eric—this would make a fantastic Skywatch Friday shot. Truly beautiful! My kids rode this ferris wheel and got the amazing view. I love roller coasters and other crazy rides, but seem to have a problem with ferris wheels—so I definitely prefer your "Tenin angle." Thanks!

    Mammie -- congrats, GF.

Monica -- I'm ALWAYS missing Paris. Are you sharing pix of your trip?

Eric -- was the housewarming party for your friend who lived in the 17th and had to move from his 7th-floor apartment?

  17. what a gorgeous shot Eric, I love the color of the Ferris wheel against the evening sky.
Ferris wheels are about the only "ride" I don't get sick on. I always love the view at the top and I bet the view from this one is exquisite.

By the way, Carrie, Amir is on Facebook. He's been posting and adding friends. I think he's doing okay.
