Karl Who?

How about a little humour for today (to compensate the bad quality of the photo!) I passed by this gallery recently - it's located 1 rue de Furstenberg, in the 6th, a few meters away from the gorgeous, unforgettable Place de Furstenberg - and I could not help smiling when I saw this "Karl Who?" bag (by Naco Paris) ! I smiled even more when I saw on the gallery web site that Karl Lagerfeld was seen wearing it! Which proves that despite his unbearable attitude, he has humour.

  1. Fabulous—and not bad quality at all! You are so sweet to be taking us all on your Paris vacation. Last time there, I stayed in an apt. right around the corner!

  2. Just checked out the links. Wow—in a million years I would never have guessed that KL has a sense of humor!

  3. He's great isn't he? I think the photo's fine, Eric.

  4. I know so little about M. Lagerfeld, evidenced in that the first Karl I thought of was Marx. What does that say about me?

Eric, you can't take a bad photo. Well, I suppose you can if you want to! It doesn't matter. You know you have a captive audience and I appreciate that you care so much about the quality of photos you post.

  6. Petra, that's the Karl I thought of too. Who's Karl Lagerfeld? Is this an age thing, do you think?

  7. Now that I've Googled Karl Lagerfeld, I find it's less of an age thing than it is an almost total absence of interest in fashion.

  8. It's not that I'm not interested. I've just never cared for labels and make my choices by what looks best to me. Which leaves me somewhere off to the side of the cutting edge.

  9. My brother is named Karl so I wontdered how you knew him. Or was this the link to his blog, I thought.

I haven't heard much good about the KL's personality- his b^tchiness comes through even in written interviews!

  10. KARL WHO? I'm lost! I never heard of him before. I thought Marx also until I read the comment. Will go read about K. Lagerfeld now.

  11. So this is Karl Lagerfeld....so now I know who is Karl!

  12. Petrea (and Gramma Ann) -- it was Marx at first thought for me too—and, yes, whatever looks best (especially if it's on sale)!

  13. Very clever Gramma Ann! Of course it's Karl Lagerfeld people. This is PARIS Daily Photo, not Moscow! LOL

The shot isn't as bad as you make it out to be Eric. One gets the feeling their walking by the shop window and the bags actually look like their suspended in the air.

  14. "Karl Who" is really only funny when Karl Lagerfeld is holding the bag. I can't really see anyone buying it.

  15. Sheila, you have a point!

So do you, Michael. It's Paris! What was I thinking?

  16. Sheila's absolutely right about the bag. He's going to have to buy a lot of them to help Naco. lol.

    Michael LOL Paris not Moscow.

I'm not often, any longer, able to buy the likes of Karl's designs but I knew straightaway because I've always been interested in designers, perfumes and, well, all things Paris really! So I knew it would be him, unless, I pondered, Eric had found out about Karl Badger who I kissed at a school dance aged 13... sharp intake of breath

  18. Being a former philosophy major, Marx immediately came to mind as well (BTW...nice touch Gramma Ann); however, Michael's point is well taken. ;-) I know the Lagerfeld name from his line of parfums and correct me if I'm wrong, from his name being associated with WONDER bras (or WONDER Bread. American joke ahem!)...but then I don't LIVE in Paris. ;-)

  19. FANTASTIC!!!!

LOL Michael! I bought a magazine in Paris last June that has the picture of Lagerfeld wearing this bag. Hilarious!!! I definetely think he has a sense of humour. I saw him once saying to a mass of reporters surrounding him at the backstage of a runway show "one day you'll get tired of me". I think it shows he has a sense of humour and sometimes doesn't take himself very seriously (everybody should feel that way from time to time).

Despite anything I'd immediately think of Lagerfeld by looking at this photo cause I'm a huge admirer of Maison Chanel. Last month I went to Rue Cambon just to check the number 31 where it all a commencé (what a beautiful façade I must add) and of course I watched Audrey Tautou in Coco avant Chanel.
    Loved it!

  20. VIOLENCES+VOL :

  21. Just dying to see 'Coco' Monica! Almost counting the days.

  22. I just saw that Coco Before Chanel is coming to LA (September)!!! Very excited to see it.

My latest obsession is the Tour de France - been getting up early to watch the boys fly live thru the French countryside. (Sorry, but for me le Tour beats Karl, with or without a totebag!) I understand most of how it works now, but still don't get how one can win the race without ever winning a stage. A few more days and they'll be wheeling into Paris!!!

  23. Lynn and Carrie, I'm sure you'll both love Chanel, the film. I'm amazed by how elegant her dreations were.

And Lynn, I know how faithful you are to you Chanel nº5!

Carrie, did you see the news about that person who was in the streets (near the city of Colmar I think) watching the bikers and got hit by a motorcicle? That was terrible, I was really sorry to read that.

  24. Monica - I did - its really a shame. I am amazed, really amazed, when I look at how reckless people are with the bikeriders and the vehicles, that there are not more accidents. This morning the rider who took the yellow jersey had to practically push off two people who were in his way.

  25. LOL, and there was me thinking it was marx. 'fraid I'm not much of a fashionista!
