Guaranteed Good Food
I took this photo at Le café de l'Epoque, a typical Paris restaurant in the 1st arrondissement. I took it because of what a friend of mine told me once: “food is always good in restaurants where they have Vichy table clothes and lace at the window”! I don’t think this advice works all the time, but it surely shows that the place is very traditional and that it should have an influence on the food they serve. In this particular case it worked!

This image speaks to me. It spells good hearty fares, honest and robust red wine and a smiling face in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteEric, your photos capture the essence of Paris. And I will follow your friend's advice and always look for Vichy tablecloths and lace drapes!
Merci

I would eat there, just on the strength of the lace curtains! Wonderful photo, very simple, very engaging!
ReplyDeleteCharmant!

I thought it was famous--it sounds familiar. But maybe not. I looked at the website and I don't think we were there. But I'd love to go!
ReplyDeleteThe curtains against those kind of windows creates a charming scene.
ReplyDeleteI love lace curtains, especially in Europe. Reminds me of my Oma's apartment in Salzburg.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eleonora, Eric's photos show the soul of Paris to us. One photo = one enjoyable moment :)
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to eating in those pretty traditional restaurants. The curtains with laces we can see in this photo insure a sort of secrecy to people inside from the outside. I don't know if it is me, but I could easily imagine a romance between these curtains! Hmm it is making me hungry. Omw to home, at work tomorrow, hmm at last some rest !! ;-) kisses.
I'm also not certain this formula always works but a setting like this certainly puts one in the mood for a pleasant meal.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant "behind" instead of "between" !!! Both can be charming... :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this photo!
ReplyDeleteAnother restaurant to enter my list!

Bonjour, all!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful place to eat. Very homelike and comforting... I guess I'll have to put it on my list of "things to do in Paris". :)
But Paris will have to wait...Chicago is first!
Thank you for the good address ! I'll try this out - on my last trip to Paris I visited Benoit - so true for the curtains, but as I got the bill I realized there were no vichy table clothes there. Missed it, again :-)
ReplyDeleteMeilleures salutations.
Great pic and a sweet, classical cafe, but $6.15 for a cafe creme...I don't think so.
