Chez Paul

I'm just out of Chez Paul, a very good - and very French - restaurant near Bastille, where I had dinner with friends. A very nice moment indeed. A place I do recommend if you come to Paris, although you probably already know it since it seems to be one of Paris restaurant milestones (which I did not know!). I had Cote de boeuf and profitéroles; it was yummy ;-)

  1. I wrote a review for Zagat guide on Chez Paul years ago which was"it looks like a French bistro, it acts like aFrench bistro, it smells like a French bistro." When the guide book came out, you can imagine my surprise when I saw that they published it!

Years later, I had a scrambled egg creme brûlée there. Yuck. Hopefully the quality has improved.

  4. What a charming shot of the vintage neon sign! I love it, Eric. I find the food at Chez Paul to be very authentic and quite delicious. I am glad you had an enjoyable evening there.

  5. I thought the only 'Paul' in Paris was a baker - some 'adopted' Parisian I am. I'm in the process of discovering some of the many little hidden passages and courtyards around Bastille - there's always so much to see, I'm afraid I'll never do it all...

  6. That sounds lovely! I'm so looking forward to Paris (looks like 3 or 4 years now! YAY) and this is something we'll have to consider. My kids want to visit London and Paris as our next big vacation, Hooray!

(Lynn is back! Hope everyone is feeling better.) :)

  7. First I have to say : Hi Lynn - good to see you around again.

Your menu sounds yummy, Eric. Chez Paul is now in my Paris Moleskin.

  8. Lynn, I hope you see how you're missed when you're not here.

Sab, Paris feels that way to me, too--I'll never see it all. But isn't that wonderful? Always an adventure around the corner.

  9. Eric,
Well I have to say that I enjoyed sharing both a cote de boeuf AND profitéroles with you (despite you running around the place with your camera)! I came here first in 1992 so it was nice to come back even if the real "friendly Parisian" had never been there. ;-)
