Nathalie Shau's work
Yesterday, Diane from Buzzeum (an agency specializing in the promotion of cultural events) sent me an email to invite me to the opening of an art exhibit (yes, another opening, I know what you're going to say!) As I'm really very busy at the moment I was about to say "No sorry, I can't", when I saw it would take place in Le Passage Verdeau, right where I live! I had no excuse not to go ;-) And I did not regret it. It took place in a gallery called Le cabinet des Curieux, by which I pass everyday (and where I already took this photo last year) and the exhibit was about the work of Natalie Shau, a Lithuanian artist who is an illustrator and photographer. Beautiful work (a little spooky too ;-)).

Beautiful work indeed. Haunting.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was an easy invitation to accept. Love the way you shot this with the red wall in the background.
ReplyDeleteI adore les passages de Paris and think you are so lucky to live in one!
Nice work, quite spooky. The vampire trend, etc. Yeah, step out your door, see the opening, pop back inside to watch the telly, back out to the event.
ReplyDeleteHey! Planning your picnic? Get on him, folks!
Great angle on the photo. I like the work hanging on the black wall to the right. Looks like an interesting exhibit, and close to home as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks a bit like Demon et Ange....especially with the red wall around the evil one. Great shot, Eric! Glad you were able to attend and share it with us.
ReplyDeletegreat angle! it appears as if she is looking straight at the viewer (of the photo). :)
ReplyDeleteAnother opening! I suspect you are really a millionaire playboy and just enjoy life. You just pretend you have a job so we don't feel so bad.
ReplyDeleteLike the photo and the picture but once you go to the link. Very skilful but Weird and Disturbing.
What medium does this artist use? It looks a little like photography, but I'm just not sure. :) I love the roses as a hat, although the eyes are just staring at you. No wonder you took the picture from this angle! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo. It looks like a painting almost. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI remember your photo of Le cabinet des Curieux from last year. As I recall, some of the images on their website at that time were VERY curieux. ;)
ReplyDeleteSeems to be an interesting place worth giving a look on my annual visit to Paris, which I had hoped might coincide with the picnic - if ONLY we had a date!
(Was that OK Jeff?)
During our first visits in Paris we used to rent hotelrooms in 9.arr. It was a coinsidence that we found the passage Jouffroy-Verdeau, it was such a lucky discovery.
ReplyDeleteNow we "live” in 6.arr, and I think rue de l`Ancienne Comedie almost look like a passage.
BTW I have read your blog for several years, even before I know it was a “blog” (!),
So its time for registrate as a follower, I think.
Well done, Drummond! Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteEric, have you ever been sorry to visit an art exhibition?
ReplyDelete@Christie "What medium does this artist use?" It is photography, but not "real" ones. She adds several bits to an original one and create a totally new one.
ReplyDelete@Drummond. The picnic will take place during the LEST WEEK OF MAY! Don't know when exactly yet. I debating between during the week or during the weekend.
@Ania. Well, welcome as an official follower then ;-) (and yes the Passage de l'Ancienne comédie is almost like a covered passage.
@Peter "Eric, have you ever been sorry to visit an art exhibition?" Yes I think I have. But not very often.
Are you and Ania referring to Cour du Commerce Sainte-Andre? Or is there another passage I've not seen yet? I know of Rue de l'Ancienne Comedie.
ReplyDeleteOK, Jeff, you are right. It`s C.du Comm.St.-André.....
