L'Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts (the National Fine arts school), is a school before all, and it's normally not a place to visit, but if you manage to sneak in, you'll see amazing things. Hence this Venus which original is apparently at the Vatican. The place is absolutely amazing, with lots of interesting buildings which history you can see here (in French only...).

She's no giant mole, but I like her.
ReplyDeleteHa! Very funny, Mrs. V!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a special place, Eric. Are you going to tell us how you got in?
Several times I wanted to sneak in there and pretend I was faculty or an employee, just to see it. Also, right down the street, at 5 rue Bonaparte, is a plaque saying the Eduard Manet was born there.
ReplyDeleteEric, you do manage to get into places the ordinary person can't. Thanks for giving us a peek.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I got lucky - when I walked by the place, I just went in. It has an almost abandoned feeling with objects sort of lying around (I remember newel posts and large sculptural elements scattered about both inside and out) and its in need of some repairs but it is both grand and charming all at the same time. Worth a stop for sure.
ReplyDeleteFunny you titled it peaceful moment--not for the lady who lost her head. Actually, I like the coldness of this picture and the sculpture itself is beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteI like when you find the treasures of Paris, Eric. Well done.
Have been in myself, with friends who were studying there—but not in a very very very long time. So thanks for another sneak peak, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI rather like her!
ReplyDeleteI am usually a timid traveler when it comes to finding gems like this. I hate to get yelled at for being somewhere I shouldn't, so I don't venture. I guess I should be more adventurous if places like this are the reward!
ReplyDeleteChristie, I'm the same. I follow the rules. Perhaps we can be forgiven if we say we don't speak or read French!
