Yes it's a one way street sign. Yes it's pretty dirty. But look more closely... Something should put a smile on your face, like it did on mine... Yes, the little guy that looks like he's stealing the white rectangle inside this street sign! I have no idea who did this, but apparently there as several ones in Paris and I find it quite amusing. that's all for today ;-) Update: here is the Facebook page of the artist who makes these little guys.

I saw this rectangle stealing guy last year in Rome. Was he there for a vacation?
ReplyDeleteI saw these all over Rome and a few in Florence in April. They appeared on a variety of traffic signs. Some are very clever. A one way sign (do not enter) like yours had a decal of a driver, steering wheel, and rear view mirror, as if the white stripe is a windshield of a car coming at you. A dead end sign (looks like a T or a crucifix) had a decal of a pieta at its base. I'll send you a couple. I think they are really fun.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fantastic. And there's a little Eiffel Tower, too! See it?
ReplyDeleteSeems there are a number of these very clever thieves ;-)
ReplyDeleteYup, it is quite amusing :)
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile!
ReplyDeleteI saw some of these signs in cities I can't quite remember. They all managed to put a smile on my face. Pure fun!
ReplyDeleteAdam's Invisible Paris page featured these little men a few weeks ago: http://parisisinvisible.blogspot.com/2011/10/of-sheep-and-men.html and one reader identified the artist as Clet Abraham. See http://www.facebook.com/pages/CLET/108974755823172?sk=wall and http://www.academyfineart.com/clet_abraham.htm.
ReplyDeleteLOL! is it for real? Creative!
ReplyDeleteThis is great humour ;-D
ReplyDeletesuch a clever capture. happy birthday, eric!
ReplyDeleteHe's all over the place, it seems! Here's a recent one I spotted.
ReplyDeleteLOL That is funny! I'm so glad to see that a sense of humor, real humor, is alive and well.
ReplyDeleteIs he stealing it or putting it back?
ReplyDeletePerhaps Sab's naughty little man goes round stealing them and Eric's nice little man follows him round putting them back.
I've heard there is a black market for white rectangles, in the grey economy.
This brought a great smile to my face too.
ReplyDeleteWhat Christie said. (And I've had people actually try to tell me that the French have no sense of humor! Can you imagine?)
ReplyDelete@Drummond "I've heard there is a black market for white rectangles, in the grey economy." LOOOOOOL! yeah probably sold at Les puces
ReplyDelete@Alexa "(And I've had people actually try to tell me that the French have no sense of humor! Can you imagine?)" Yeah, right!
@Jeff. Yeas apparently the guy who does that lives in Italy. I just found his Facebook page thanks to Tim's comment.
