Friday and Saturday I spent two exhausting days at a "geek" conference and I must say I did not really feel like touring Paris to take photo yesterday! Fortunately I noticed there was a small running race starting at my local town hall which is just a couple of blocks away from where I live. So I went and took this photo (for once, someone who seems happy to be photographed!). I then looked up on the web yo find out more and discovered that there are dozens of events like that within Paris every year: for women, for notaries(no kidding!), for students... not to forget the marathon of course!
A day in the life. Love the every day photos.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that the Hotel de Ville du 3e arrondissement is across a street from Square du Temple. Walked by it dozens of times.
Yes! Another reason to plan a trip - I was a notary once and I have to race! Hopefully it passes BHV 'cause I have to get more of this soap I like and then through the Marais for some running inspiration ?
ReplyDeleteAre you sure he wasn't just trying to push you out of the way? :) The background is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe Philadelphia Marathon was run today. 1500 racers from the cancelled NY Marathon ran with half of their entrance fee donated to a Sandy Relief fund.
ReplyDeleteOh, to be young, gorgeous, and in Paris!
ReplyDeleteEric, I read your column every day but haven't commented in a while. I must say there's "something" about this photo that really grabs me. Perhaps it's the directness, the 'in your face' look, the joi de vivre in this runner. But I also love the buildings in the background that instantly let you know this isn't just anywhere; it's Paris! I love the warm, creamy color of the buildings in contrast to the often depicted dull gray. Merci! (PS Am already anticipating my 2013 Paris Daily Photo calendar:)
ReplyDeleteI noticed you didn't risk the famous Tenin Perspective for this shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot! And no bitmapping required? (My fave Paris race is the course des garçons de café.)
ReplyDelete@Jeff "I just realized that the Hotel de Ville du 3e arrondissement is across a street from Square du Temple." True!
ReplyDelete@Michael nudo "Hopefully it passes BHV 'cause I have to get more of this soap I like and then through the Marais for some running inspiration ?" LOOOOOL

@Ujima (who sent me a super photo of her mother!) "1500 racers from the cancelled NY Marathon ran with half of their entrance fee donated to a Sandy Relief fund." That's nice. I love this.
@Petrea "Oh, to be young, gorgeous, and in Paris!" Blush! ;-)))
@Trishia ". I must say there's "something" about this photo that really grabs me." I agree, I like it too, even though I have several other ones that I hesitated posting.
@Drummond "I noticed you didn't risk the famous Tenin Perspective for this shot!" Not on this very one, but on the other ones I hesitated posting, yes!
@Alexa "My fave Paris race is the course des garçons de café.)". You're right. I never posted this one, I must not miss it this year.
