I passed by the brand new place de la République last evening and it was really beautiful so of course I stopped and took a photo! Like I already mentioned, this Place was totally renovated this year (well it lasted two years, but it was inaugurated this year) and it's a total success. The statue in the middle shows "Marianne", the young woman we usually represent the French republic with.

It's a very beautiful shot, Eric. Even the gray clouds have a beauty about them. Maybe it's the spell of Marianne.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Nah... Marianne does not put spell on people LOL!
DeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMerci Sasho!
DeleteBeautiful! And so classic Eric.
ReplyDeleteSo classic I almost did not publish it!
DeleteMerci Eric; I have been avoiding la République like hell because of the mess of 'reconstruction' and I'm glad I can now go there.... :)
ReplyDeleteIt really looks stunning
Yes, now traffic is much better actually. They really did a good job.
DeleteIt is gorgeous, Eric, as is your photo. I love the child's angle, which makes the tall statue and the dramatic clouds truly magnificent.
ReplyDeleteChild's angle... True!
DeleteYour blog lifts my mood. Though i have visited it only thrice, but it always remain in my subconscious somehow. I have visited Paris once & had already fallen love with the city but your blog prompts me to visit it again. May I know which camera do you use? You take amazing pics & that too at amazing angles. I am seeing a lot of photos taken from the ground. Amazing, amazing view indeed !!!
ReplyDelete"I am seeing a lot of photos taken from the ground. " LOL tell me about it... I take a lot of photos from the ground, because it gives a perspective that you rarely see (unless you're a child, like Lydia (above) said.). I now use a Nikon D7000, but I have no technical skills.
DeleteIt's really a great relief, after years of reconstruction ! You can finally visit Marianne and take a good look at this great (!) statue.
ReplyDeleteAnd no graffiti yet!
DeleteThe first night I ever spent in Paris (almost exactly 48 years ago!) was in a hotel on the place de la République. I look forward to checking out this new, improved version. :~}
ReplyDeleteYou mean you're more than 48 Alexa?! That cannot be true! When are you coming back BTW?!
DeleteFirst, you are so funny—and so sweet! Second, l'année prochaine, j'éspère.
DeleteThank you Eric - (but you might want to correct the title...)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you seem to be well and healthy again.
Oooops merci. I corrected it...
DeleteAnd yes, I am healthy again!!
Eric, I look at your pictures daily and seldom do I comment! But this one is outstanding, the perspective and the view is superb. I don't believe i have ever seen "La Place do la Republique" but it will be on my schedule for next year's trip.
ReplyDeleteMerci PP! You have to see this place, it's really nice.
