I know that a lot of you will prefer what's in the background in this photo (the beautiful Place Vendôme at sunset), but... I'm sure you also like modern art! So here is one of the twelve statues by Taiwanese artist Li Chen (李真) that are currently on display all around the Place. This one is called The Pursuer and believe me it's really beautiful (and difficult to photograph!) Have a look at some other ones here...
Nice post, Eric. Place Vendome is a great setting for these large pieces. Last October when I visited PV, there was an exhibit by a Spanish artist/sculptor, very airy huge pieces done entirely in stainless steel. Quite magnificent.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you've quickly recovered from your surgery and busy on the street again!
Thank you Judy. Well yes, after a few hard days, I'm really back on track!
DeleteThe Place Vendôme is often used to display art pieces, it's a shame there is so much scaffolding everywhere at the moment (Ritz, parking lot that caught fire last year, etc.)
I love Li Chen very much; his sculptures really look amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou knew him? I did not!
DeleteThank you for putting this show on your lens.
ReplyDeleteThis is really beautiful ! There are interesting links too in your post.
This is so great! Thanks for the supporting link, too - it is so cool to see the context for the piece that you've showcased. I can totally see why it was so difficult to photograph - well done!
