I saw this at a brocante (a secondhand market) yesterday and it really made me smile. Visiting brocantes and vide-greniers (garage sales) is an occupation that a lot Parisians enjoy doing during the weekend and that is why you can find several of them in each arrondissement. I'm not a big fan, 1) because I never know what is good to buy or not and 2) you need to bargain and I really hate that. But I enjoy looking, at least to take photos (which is not really appreciated actually...)

Alors, tu n'aimes pas marchander? I think it's a fun game to play.
ReplyDeleteI HATE it!
DeleteMy cousin particularly would love that sort of thing. I'm assuming a brocante, particularly given the price listed on the doll, would be the French equivalent of a flea market...
ReplyDeleteWell, yes and no... We have flea markets too, but they are more organized and located always at the same place.
DeleteAwww a bunch of fake babies !! I had a Black doll with longer hair but the same face as the one on your photos. I guess all dolls have pretty much the same face. I wonder what happened to that doll... maybe she ended up in brocante somewhere ? Cool photo, Éric!
ReplyDeleteMerci Tomate ! Glad to see you here ;-)
DeleteThe technical name for this is box-o-dolls.
ReplyDeleteLOL !
DeleteA little creepy to me... I'm not a fan of antiques nor all the used market. I prefer the idea of recycling plastic products to recreate, rebuild, renew. Re re re ... But sometimes it can be a great opportunity to find an old memory... A French version of a classic Monopoly for instance. Could be the place to !
ReplyDeleteTrue, it is a little creepy ;-)
DeleteHa! My favorite thing to do on a weekend as a Mr MonaLisaLynn can attest to! I have been to as many as possible in the past 2months, even snagging Michael to go with me. He has a great eye (yes, yes, and everything else). I complained that I wanted a French Monopoly set after reading Eric's post as I want to frame it for our wall in CDG, and bemoaned the fact that I couldn't go yesterday, as I has to go back to NY. Michael found one for me on eBay , and I am the proud new owner! It is even played with French francs!!Mr. MLLynn is so happy he doesn't have to go searching at another Vide with me, but my friend PDPMichael is THE BEST!
ReplyDeleteLOL Lynn! My pleasure to do the vide greniers with you any time!
DeleteCould not fix grammatical mistakes, sorry.
ReplyDeleteThis photo's kinda creepy though Eric. Their eyes are all different and looking at you in strange ways!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Maybe they've been used in The Exorcist of something...
