I totally forgot about this series of photos that I took at Chais 33, a restaurant located at Bercy Village, an area located in the Eastern part of Paris I already told you about several time. A "chai" is the place were wine is made and stored (winery in English) and there were lots of them at Bercy in the old days (hence the name of the restaurant). Stunning location.
It has the feel of a bunker. The spherical object is an unusual touch, but then I don't spend much time in wine cellars!
ReplyDeleteOoh, just send down a few baguettes and some chunks of fromage and leave me alone for the day! That big round thing looks like a buoy of some sort. -Jeff
ReplyDeleteVery atmospheric. Do you know what that round thing is in the foreground?
ReplyDeleteNo I don't actually. Probably just a spheric table.
DeleteWow this Chai is a winery.
ReplyDeleteChai means 'Tea' in Hindi.
And its a very special word for Indians nowadays, because our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was a 'Chaiwalla' means Tea-vendor or seller in his childhood. He faced many struggles to reach where he is, today.
All 'Chaiwallas' are proud to be one today.
It certainly is a stunning chai, Eric. The wine Roc des Cambes is excellent! The price per bottle is a good restaurant price.
ReplyDeleteI did not know. I know nothing about wine to be honest!
DeleteCan anyone tell me how the French pronounce the word "chai"? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA bit like "Shey"
DeleteWow—and you don't even drink the stuff! Did you get a behind-the-scenes look or can anyone visit this part of the restaurant? And is the round thing in the foreground some sort of wine barrel?
ReplyDeleteYes anyone can!
