Surfing the wave... length

Yesterday was a big radio day for me! I was first interviewed by the BBC world service (go to the lower part of the page, in the middle, click on "Audio" until the 39th minute if you want to listen directly to the interview). They were interested in the role that French blogs played in the recent riots. Later at night I spoke to Loïc Le Meur on Europe2, a music station that also runs a daily show about blogs at 9 pm. Therefore, I thought that the best photo of the day could only be La Maison de la Radio - which is the building where the French public radio is located (in the 16th arrondissement).

  3. I am interested in knowing what insight you might give to a radio on the role that French blogs played in the recent riots. What do you know of it ?

  4. Well, actually I raised this objection to the journalist before the interview but she was mostly interested in the reactions on my blog.
I also mentioned the Skyrock blogs affair of course which is pretty well known here.

But nothing more, don't worry, I did not pretend I was an expert if that is your concern...

  6. Eric - What is the Skyrock blog affairs? I am highly interested in this, because I will be presenting a paper at the Popular Culture Conference, this coming April, on blogs devoted to anti-French bashing (such as Superfrenchie's). So the impact of blogs on anything is of interest to me. Thanks for enlightening me.

  7. Elisabeth - I didn't understand you comment. There are blogs devoted to bashing the French ?

  8. dev: I think Elisabeth meant "(anti)+(French bashing)", not "(anti French)+ (bashing)" but there are blogs dedicated to French bashing as well. Go figure.

On my way to check the links, Eric. Excellent :-)

  9. Elisabeth. The blogs have been accused of playing a large role in the riots (see this article And more precisely the radio Skyrock had to close down at least 3 blogs (skyblogs) that would promote the idea of rioting.

  10. By the way, I note that Loic LeMeur teased you a little about the "guy kissing guy" and "girl kissing girl" pictures. Funny how that comment tends to prove that the attitudes in France are not quite the same as they are here in San Francisco for instance.

Anyway, it was cool to hear your voice, so thanks for letting us know! :-)

PS. You knew I was gonna make that comment, right ? ;-)
