Welcome to PDP!

Wow! Yesterday, the people at Blogger's featured PDP on their Blogs of Note blog. As a result this blog remained 24 hours on the home page of the blogger dashboard. Needless to say, that it kinda boosted my stats... I received 7 000 visitors yesterday, against 1 900 on average on a "normal" day. Thank you Mr Google! On this special occasion, I'd like to welcome those new visitors who landed on PDP for the 1st time today, with these giant flowers that I photographed in the Jouffroy Passage, right near my home.

  1. It's so kind! This success is only due to your talent anyway.
Is it a fake flower?...night night.

  2. Love the color combination -- very inspiring for tonight's design session! Thank you!

  3. I'm here Tomate! Well done you are first, though your sentences are quite short, i'm not sure what Phx will have to say he he.

Eric those flowers are fantastic though the tablecloth makes it all a bit busy i think lol. You great blogger, you, with all these fans. Wow all those hits. We're all so very proud of our Eric.

  4. Hi Guille i thought you'd be lurking like me! he he.

  5. Congratulations Eric and w-o-w that is one fantastic "welcome" photo. :) Bravo!

  6. LYNN WINS according to the Golden Finger I wanna have fun rules. Two full lines relating to the picture!

I love these hidden passages, as they have a wonderful antique feel to them. My favorite is Vero Dodat--PLEASE FORGIVE my spelling as I am writing stream of conscious--

The passages are precursers to malls, I guess, and by far a lot quieter.

  7. I thought they were paper...so we have a little bit of real Mexico in this picture!

  8. Congrats on the high stats!! You deserve it!

Also, I saw that you are on Facebook! Please do check out my visual artist page I just set up: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Lone-Beader/25590240608

    Au revoir! :D

  9. Congratulations Eric! And welcome to your new PDP friends. It is attention well deserved. PDP is like great French chocolate, cheese, fine wine. . .or macaroons, it needs to be shared with others. Those are beautiful paper flowers fronting the view, and I love your point of view here.

I did not realize I had been so close to your home before. I have been in that passage and the busy street beyond. In fact I bought a scarf near there; but, it wasn't as nice as the ones Edwin is featuring on Kuala Limpur Daily Photo today. . .sigh.

Much continued success. And, aren't you coming up on your #3 anniversary soon?

    Happy Friday,
    -Kim

  10. Congratulations, Eric! You deserve even more credit for setting up the Daily Photo concept and getting , is it 180?, sites from around the world to share something every day. I still think there is a great book idea here.

  11. What pretty flowers, and I love the blue tile! I love these passages, too - one of my favorites is the one behind Le Grand Colbert restaurant - I can't remember its name.

Congratulations, Eric on all the thousands of hits - I'm so happy that others have been able to discover your beautiful, fun photographs!

  13. Lynn: you're up late! Short sentences are OK, too ;)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Beautiful flowers Eric, paper or not! These passages are lovely and so parisian.
And 7000 visitors in a day?!! Impressive, you'll be in Guinness Records one of these days.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Lynn and Guille: it's so funny how you always say you're going to bed early and then rush to post the first entrie.
Who are you two trying to fool?!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. What a pretty picture (as always). I love the passages! Lynn must have been tired thinking it was a tablecloth, but it does sort of look like one if you don't notice the shops behind it...

  17. Hi Eric,

As you may or may not know, Eliane (New York) has been missing in action since last month and her last blog posting doesn't put us at ease. She was supposedly in a plane asking us to guess where she will be in 7 hours, But that was the last posting of her's ever.

Could you put up an OPEN PLEA on your blog looking for information about Eliane?

    Thanks,
    Photolicious

  22. hi Eric!
i found your blog via blogger promo
    and like it .
i post link to your blog on my blog all over print

  23. Hi Phx: I didn't understand your message. Is that the name of the passage or are you speaking to me in a foreign tongue? :) It doesn't sound familiar. Sorry for my ignorance.

    Peeg.

    ReplyDelete
  24. How clever you are Eric. What else could one say about these flowers in reality? The excellent link you make to the "welcome" is great.

So tell us, have you sold many things in your Zazzle store with those 7000 hits/day? Will we one day be saying, "I knew him when..."?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with Pont Girl, PHX. DO you mean the Passage Verdeau?

    ReplyDelete
  26. PHX meant passage Verot Dodat

    ReplyDelete
  27. I just did some Google research. Of course, our own Eric answered it on 16 Decembre, 2005, with an awesome photo of Le Grand Colbert. Gallerie Vivienne. Phx - I saw yours, too - which it Google says is behind the Louvre also near the Palais Royal (sounds very interesting - I don't think I've been there. Like I said, I love les passages!

Michael - are you in Paris? If so, you're up so early!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ok lili, thanks for answering for her. I see where it is now.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have been to this passage before (if it's the one I think it is with the wax Museum inside). It is very nice and cool on a hot summer day.

Also, I wanted to let you know that although I never leave a comment here, I received my beautiful greeting cards of Notre Dame today Eric and am so pleased with them. The quality of the printing was tops and the matching postage is such a great idea. Thank you and I will be coming back for more at holiday time.

Et j'aime les photos aussi ... tres excellent!

    Salut!

  31. I still have my fake paper roses in the living room to remind me my fantastic days in Paris.
    Bonjour Eric!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Congratulations, Eric! You deserve many thousands more visitors.

Thank you for this photo, and the reminder that on my next visit to Paris I'll make it a goal to visit as many passages as I can find.

Eric, you have inspired the City Daily Photo phenomenon. Because of you and PDP I started my own PDP (Pasadena), and I'm having the time of my life! I can't thank you enough.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Many congratulations it's a great compliment and very well deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Goodness it is still early in the morning and look at all your comments, Eric! Fantastic i am pleased. Michael i was wondering about Zazzle too. In fact, i'd like to do it myself. Do you think i'm up to the tech of it? :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey Phx it's quite some time since i looked up the 'Wanna have fun' rules in the Constitution. How clever of you to recall them.
Yes Tomate i was up late and i really must stop doing it. I am soooo tired in the mornings and it's all Eric's fault. Well actually it's the girls' fault for making me - yes making me - stay up late to beat them to first place commenting.
Monica i don't know what you mean :o I was really going to bed but...well i just had one last look in he he! So did Guille, i presume, huh Guille? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yep it's me again, just catching up on all the millions of comments. You can see how i thought it was a tablecloth oh yes! Now that you point it out perhaps it could be the floor of an alley okay you can have that, but it could easily have been...oh ok. I was wrong. And tired. Your fault Monica and Guille.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yes, I have noticed the Blogs of Note entry. Congratulations. It's about a time, right?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've loved the passage that you shot. In the last time I've been in Paris my hotel was Hotel Ronceray, that is located in the passage.

Thank you Eric for the nice shots you give us.

Very very nice ... I love Paris (but who doesn't!), been there 3 times (age 2, age 16, age 18) and I hope to get back soon (I'm 36 now!).

    I'll come back.

  45. The number of comments is increasing! Your present (I mean the flower) seduced your new readers/viewers.
The "passages" in Paris are many and so great. The Passage Vivienne is exceptional (and the hot chocolate in the café Colbert is just AMAZING. Monica, you have to write it in your TO DO LIST). Maybe you know the Passage Brady. It's in the 10th arr.,the smell is wonderful because of all the indian spices sold there, you can also find Narguiles and drink mint tea among the oriental carpets and subdued lamps. There is African vegetables and fruits stalls, dry dates and figs. It's a kind of "working-class" area so the tourists rarely go there, but it's a pity.

No Lynn, don't put the responsibility on my shoulders please!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Coucou Eric, it was your site quite some time ago that pulled me into that daily photoblog “thing” now having come to the point where I want to make my own! Thank you for each of your great pics of that great town!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Coucou, i love that greeting!

Guille only kidding; I'm responsible for my own early night.
The areas you describe sound wonderful and right now i could do with just wandering slowly, browsing and stopping for tea in those places. I need it.

Although I have been to Paris many times you have shown that there is so much more to see.

  51. This is the first time that i read your blog. I'm from Spain, and a few years ago I passed a greats chritsmas holidays in Paris.
I like photographied, and i like a lot this photo.
    Congratulations to your blog.

  52. Wow...so many new and interesting people commenting :)
    Really good isn't it?
Lynn, with so many new faces we might be able to disguise the fact that we post too often! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Quite, Rose. How lovely to see you. Haven't seen you in aaaaaaages! Not.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yeah yeah, I know you are fed up of me already :(
Monica, a Lynn ta me maltratando....buahhhhh

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not in the LEAST! I think sometimes my dry humour gets me misunderstood. I love our chats, i was just going along with the image to the others that we're not here often! You all speak English so very well i forget sometimes that dry humour is lost. I am also missing Guille and Monica where ARE they? Don't they know we've been waiting here at Paree for an hour?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes of course Lynn, I'll be happy to help you with Zazzle. Unfortunately it will have to wait until I get back from Brazil in a week. Start thinking about what photos/artwork you'd like to convert into merchandise.

For inspiration, see Eric's store of course!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Lynn, don;t be silly. Of course I know you are joking :)
After all why would want to be horrible to such a wonderful person like me?
    Hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  58. HEY!!!! WATCH OUT FOR GIANT BEES!!!
    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was one of the newcommers yesterday. I'm not surprised you get so many hits, just a fantastic site.

I love the composition on this against the blue square floor, and those flowers wow.

  60. Oops, I was thinking of Cafe de L'Epoque in Vero-Dodat, not to be confused by any means with Le Grand Colbert (featured in that movie with Jack Nickolsen and Diane Keaton--was it Something's Gotta Give?).
Two hits on my forked tongue with a stale baguette.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love this blog.

Guille, I will definetely put it in my list. The only passages I've visited was Vivienne and Claridge, although I'm not sure Claridge is considered a passage, or more like a gallery.

Rose, do not worry, I've known Lynn for ages (how do you like that Lynn?!), she's harmless. Eric and Michael are the ones that should be worried...

Lynn sorry I'm late, well at least while you were waiting for me in Paree I bet you took the time to have some coffee in a cozy little cafe and then wandered through the Seine browsing the books of Le Bouquinistes.
Oh and Lynn, can you believe that Michael is coming to MY country and I won't get to see him??? Don't you agree that's absurd??!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. merci pour cette fleur que tu nous offre et félicitation, tu mérites ce succès. Alors comme le dit si bien l'équipe "Toujours plus Haut"

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ok then Monica if you say Lynn is harmless I will believe you ;)
Lynn you are a wonderful person and I WAS joking ;)Here some kisses for you xxx

  64. Good morning everyone.

Sailor Girl you made me laugh!

And Guille, you gave me an idea: my Paris To-Do List!

Michael, I'd like to do Zazzle, too, or something like it. There's also Cafe Press, and there may be others. They look easy to do. I just haven't taken the leap yet.

Well, Eric, it looks like you'll have to quit your job so you can handle this fabulous blog full-time. Either that, or hire Lynn to manage everything for you.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Petrea, I definitely recommend Zazzle over CafePress either because Zazzle seems easier to manage or just I think it is easier.

Funny enough, I read this article at the airport yesterday about Zazzle's business model and found it here on the web for you and Lynn. It might be of interest..

  66. How timely! Thanks, Michael, I'll take a look.

    ReplyDelete
  67. You're welcome Petrea.

And yes Monica, it is a dommage. How about you flying over to Sao Paulo for lunch on Sunday? Even dinner? I hear it will be warm but rainy. Say it isn't true (about the rain)!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Lynn, you miss me? How kind!! :D
It's my last day of holidays, I decided to see an exhibition at Le Jeu de Paume (with a friend who just came back from London hahaha I laugh on the other side of my face).

It's amazing to see how many people are attracted by Paris...

Michael if you have lunch with Monica, one of the girl here will be very jealous. (No Lynn, I'm not pointing you out!Ok I am).

    ReplyDelete
  69. No i'm not surprised at all Monica. Michael came to Britain and didn't see me :(
Michael you KNOW i'm the world's most impatient person. A WEEEEEEK? I can tell you that i have blundered into Zazzle, i've made a gallery with ONE product in it - ok so far, blindly crashing through the site, clicking this, clicking that and hoping for the best. I now have one mug for sale if anyone's dying to have it, and a Zazzle panel on my art site which is far too big and is half visible. Pah! I'm ready to throw my laptop into the garden. A WEEEEEEK?
Kisses for you Rose too well all of you xx

    ReplyDelete
  73. Course i miss you Guille! Hope you enjoyed the exhibition, that's where i wish i'd been today instead of fighting my way hopelessly through a website which everyone else in the world can work out.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Congratulations on the Blogs of Note listing. I see why you are so popular now. It does seem you have a few female admirers monsieur. Good luck managing all of them and if you get bored, please do not forget me.

I see that Jeff has disappeared (probably from fear...)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Jeff come back, have no fear!

Michael that's a tempting idea, flying to Sao Paulo to have lunch, I'll have to see if I can though... I mean, do you mean THIS sunday?

When are you arriving in Sao Paulo?

About the rain, again Michael all I can tell you is that it's sunny and hot here in Rio. I can't garantee you a nice weather in Sao Paulo!
