C'mon we are in June!
This has got to be the rainiest and coldest month of June I've ever experienced in Paris. Like I told you the weather during the white dinner party was really chilly and the next 5 days or so will be rainy... Wait, that is not all: the temperature are, on average, 5 degrees (Celsius) below normal (sorry PHX-CDG!!)! I realize every day how lucky we've been with the PDP picnic! Have a nice weekend; time for me to go to bed with an extra blanket!! (BTW, if you're interested, CNN posted the debate that took place in Le Senat that I mentioned last Monday - June 9. See France on the move, part 1 to 4))

… and a nice bowl of Cream of Wheat is satisfying, even if not completely white … huh?
ReplyDeleteOh! After a month's delay, Willits finally is back up into the 90s, and off come the sweaters.
ReplyDeleteuselaine accepts the Gross Frau award, danke
ReplyDeleteHey UsElaine GF!
ReplyDeleteI know, it's chilly over here too in Englsnd, Eric. Has been rainy too, though just a few days ago it was BOILING! How weird is our weather. This is such a great photo to illustrate it too, full of closeness and movement, i really love it. When you have love, who needs the sun huh?
I like her Converse shoes too. I have them in black. Soooo comfy.
Don't feel too bad about the June weather, as you are not alone! Seattle is officially colder than Siberia according to the weather service. It's our coldest June since 1897...which, I think, means we're supposed to hide in Victorian opium dens until the sun returns. Although once it does, we may all fry like vampires!
ReplyDeleteActually maybe hers are not true Converse? I like them anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt has been weird weather here too. Hot and humid and RAINY! Threats of severe storms every other day, and even wind damage.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Eric, Paris is flooding, and one of your subjects has donned a swim cap?
Brrrr! Quite a difference from yesterday's bright photo. I feel bad for people who only only get bad weather when they visit Paris. Did you take this at the park that connects to the Promenade Plantee? I seem to remember a bridge like that over a big grassy lawn.
ReplyDeleteRainy Day Dream Away
ReplyDeleteLeave it to Parisians. Even their "trash-bag chic" is, well, chic. Or are those just over-sized Shieks?
I really love the combination of this post : title, photo, caption... i agree with you.
ReplyDeleteT Gary - You're not a Trojans fan, apparently.
ReplyDeleteEric, we've had one of the rainiest Junes in history here in mid-west (Chicago). The rivers are are overflowing and flooding entire cities. On the positive side, the grass has never been greener and this springs crop of flowers are bright and beautiful. On the down side, I've have a number of golf dates canceled because of flooded fairways. On the plus side, I love the thunder storms, the air is never cleaner or more alive after a good thunder storm. David
ReplyDeleteI don't know exactly why but I find this post less "formal" than usual (due to the title, the fact that you talk about you more than usual). Yeah, I like it! :)
ReplyDeleteAbout your picture, well, they look like giant condoms. Hehe. Sorry I couldn't resist.
I won't have access to internet before sunday night I guess, so have a nice week end all. (I'll try anyway!).
In spite of growing up near USC, perhaps not USElaine.
ReplyDeleteThat statue of Tommy Trojan on campus could never seem to keep his sword up.
Oh! and about the Freeze, yes it was really "freeze mother fucker"! Isn't it the kind of sentence said by a cop to a bad guy in police movie ?!
ReplyDeleteHere is the official video, few French, don't worry!

Eric...Love is always in the Parisian air!
ReplyDeleteGuille..."gaint condoms" LOL! [and like condoms, they get the job done most of the time]
David...I'd be happy to let you have all of our thunderstorms. I'm tired of them and the destruction they have left in their wake.
Congrats on GF Uselaine!
Guille!!! My what language from you young lady! Now I'm afraid to check out your link!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you. I'm quite proud of my GF this time, especially, uh, since the entire CDPB portal has been frozen (no scan updates) for nearly 20 hours.
ReplyDeleteT Gary - hmmm. Gives fresh meaning to Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk". Or maybe wood can be fleeting, even at the best of times.
Guille -- that's what I said, les flics policiers (see yesterday).
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Eric, the weather is crazy all over the States, especially the Midwest, where it's just plain bad! Hope you guys out there are doing alright, not floating (or flying) away. Here in NY, it's been as hot as the hinges of hell (aussi chaud que les charnieres de l'enfer).
Oh, and I love Eric's "slice of Parisian life" photos, like this one.
Congrats on GF, uselaine!
Tall G-man! Jimi Hendrix lives on brother! Nice vid!
ReplyDeleteIt's that darned global warming, which right now is not making things all too warm. Thunderstorms and tornadoes and floods, oh my! Totally ruined what would have otherwise been a fun day for me! Oh well, the guilding of the setting sun on the bottoms of all the rain clouds is very beautiful so I guess nature is giving me something good after all the yuck.
ReplyDeleteHey Soosha, hope we all get a reprieve this weekend. Stay safe in St Louis. You're right up the road from the hometown of one of my favorite authors...Mr. Mark Twain. Love the Mississippi River (most years)and the road along it; just hope it's not overflooding its banks like it is to your north.
ReplyDelete"I love Paris in the Springtime..."
ReplyDeleteI agree, Guille, the photo's casual. I like it.
In reading through the comments, I was wondering if anyone would mention global warming. It's the first thing I thought of. The weather's been getting stranger for a while now. Usually by this time in Pasadena it's very hot, but we had mild weather last year way into the summer. It looks like it'll be the same this year.
I wish we could borrow some of that Midwest rain, Soosha/Coltrane/David/Jeff etc! Wouldn't it be nice if you could spread it around to those who need it?
You think it's been cold in Paris?! We had snow...SNOW on the 10th! I couldn't believe it. All my tomatoes are dead, but the poppies and the iris' managed to survive the disaster. Global warming my butt!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo Eric! Do those come lined with goose down? hahaha
It has been raining a lot in Nashville, too. Earlier today it sounded like a torrential downpour outside. Rain or not in either place, I must say that I'd rather be in Paris!
ReplyDeleteAs for the cold, well, I'd take that, too! It has been getting hot and humid here. I have a basic philosophy that goes something like this: When it's cold, you can always add another layer -- don a sweater, curl up with a blanket, or even go buy long underwear if need be. But when it's hot, there's only so much you can take off ... And sometimes that still doesn't help!
Petrea, I've wondered about the weather being related to global warming as well. And by the way, I'm sorry I missed your message last night about the link, but of course, you "found it" anyway. (And missing the link in the blog is something I could've done myself.) :)
Rain in June? And here I am annoyed by the heat in California. Makes me very thankful. I do love your pictures.

Odd! it's 10:30 am and it's a clear blue sky day today! Exactly the opposite of what the weather people said?!
ReplyDeleteI really like this photo a lot. They "radiate" so much love, and I don't think they felt the chill in the air.
ReplyDeleteWe have such a grey and rainy day today - uuuhhhhh...
Yes the weather is strange this year all over the world. It seems to get worse for every year, so I too think it has to do with global warming.
The weather has better to improve itself before I come to Paris in July. I can accept one or two rainy days, but that's it ! I will not wear these ehm... (condoms ?) when on holiday.
ReplyDeleteLike you, Eric, we have beautiful sunshine here in the UK. Not a giant condom in sight. It's still chilly though.
ReplyDeleteYour sunshine will be welcomed by your visiting George Bush. Are you able to get us a pic? Will Sarkozy be cozying up to him in the way our Blair did? Those two became the most embarassing 'bestest friends ever'. I do hope they play nicely and that Sarkozy keeps a more stable head on his shoulders than Blair did when he met Bush. They even delighted in the fact that they use the same toothpaste. I say to Sarkozy; Don't let him in your bathroom. Keep your toothpaste a national secret. The starstruck syndrome which Blair cringeingly displayed and his need to secure Bush to be seen as his playmate in the biggest playground in the world had devastating effect, in my opinion, and we British have suffered as a result. Ooooh political, political from Lynn. A rare thing.
I have pictures of me in London,1970, covered in a blanket lol in August while walking down the street. Global warming since then? I think so.
ReplyDeleteEric, I am THRILLED with colder weather while here. This is the 3rd yr. in a row that we have taken this unairconditioned apt. 3 yrs ago there was that heat wave in Paris and it almost caused a divorce. Last yr. the neighbor in the penthouse told me she viewed my husband sleeping naked on the cold floor that yr.[she could view into our living room thru a certain uncovered part of our window that you can't cover, and showed me where to look while visiting her.!!!! ]LOL. Hope she enjoyed any shortcomings of his.
The unairconditioned buses and metro are like steam cookers when the weather is warm. This week has been great! Just hope I don't pick a rainy day to bike with Fat tire tours to Versailles.
It's the same here. We've turned the heating on again ...
ReplyDeletecoltrane, I certainly hope we don't get any more flooding! We've already had some areas around here evacuated 2 or 3 times since April due to it. We definitely don't need a repeat of the floods of 93! However, if I was the betting type I'd say we'll come awfully close this summer.
ReplyDeletepetrea, yes! You can have some of our rain! I don't mind a good summer thunderstorm, which can be one of the most beautiful things nature has to offer, but I'd prefer to keep it at once every couple of weeks at most. This is just too much! Perhaps I should invest in a giant condom in addition to my ginormous umbrella (which I seem to alwasy forget on rainy days)!
eric, enjoy the cloudless day! Our weather forecast for today is...rain!
Petrea - Rain is the life-blood of the mid-west farmer but this year the excessive rain is hindering planting. I'm sure some farmers would be happy to sent the rain your way.
ReplyDeleteEric: Speaking of farmers, I read an article in today's NY Times about the expansion of the Champagne region. Very interesting how the value of land increases when an area makes the list of regions allowed to grow the grapes. Land values increases from 6,000 euros per hectare to over 1 million -- WOW! I've visited Epernay and had a wonderful afternoon wandering around the Champagne caves on a tour.
David, you are so smart! It is very wet and much cooler than usual here on the prairie. Our tomato plants are a disaster but the weeds are doing better than ever.
ReplyDeleteI like today's photo very much. Her sneakers are the exact color of his pants and his sneakers are the exact color of hers. The green, yellow and purple tops really add to their brilliance. Did they plan this?
I always love to have my coffee in the morning and read what you all have written during the night while I am sleeping.
Eric, odd... indeed. How did you do that?! Whatever is your secret, a big hug to you!!! Wow, see how daring I am becoming on PDP ;))
ReplyDeletePHX-CDG, LOOOL!!! I wish you the most lovely holidays in Paris with your husband, without need of any air conditioned!
I understand the cold and rainy part! It has been much cooler than normal here and very rainy--at least every other day. There are flood warnings all over the place and a town my sister used to live in has 400 city blocks underwater. Crazy! But I have to admit, the rain is making everything so green and lush and beautiful! Our flowers have never been this happy! (Especially considering last year we had NO rain for almost a month and a half!)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the day, whether rainy, dry, sunny or cloudy! :)
Phx what a funny story. Your neighbour must have been quite shocked to spot your husband's nudity. Yet, she observed him night after night, did she? lol....just to be sure....!
ReplyDeleteGuess it doesn't matter to those two what the weather's like. =)
ReplyDeleteSweet!
Sorry to hear it's rainy and cold in Paris.
ReplyDeleteI know Phx loves Paris so much that she won't let it spoil her parisian vacation.
Hope you all have a nice weekend.
Guille, don't work too hard!!!
Oh wait, so it's a blue sky now?!
ReplyDeleteWell, Paris just gets better and better!
Phx, tell me ALL about the Fat Tire tour to Versailles when you're done. This sounds absolutely fun!
Here here, Lynn. You go ahead and get political. You do it with humor! I can't seem to do it without getting mad.
ReplyDeleteSounds like today is a sunnier day in Paris. PHX! Bonnes vacances to you and Mr. PHX!
Was about to say more or less the same thing Petrea just said, what do you know.
ReplyDeleteSo, yes, Lynn -- way to go, and I agree with you 110 percent.
And am very glad for M. & Mme. PHX to have nice weather. Also want to hear about the Versailles excursion.
Flag Day.
ReplyDeleteI have never participated in a Freeze; if I did though, I think a Freeze "kiss" with a boyfriend would be the best pose for me.
ReplyDeleteLynnie, "Keep your toothpaste a national secret." You are too funny. I like the way you talk about politics -- you're such a wit.
great!
ReplyDeleteIt is the Norwegian summer!
ReplyDeleteI passed it down to you (it is trop chaud in Paris in June/July/August anyway..) ;-)
