Fontaine Trévise
Thursday, June 26, 2008 Posted by Eric
Last night (Wednesday), I received a text message from Kinneret (the lady who wrote a nice article in Hebrew about PDP). She said "If you want to take a cool photo, they are currently shooting a historical movie on Cité Trévise". I was having dinner in the 14th arrondissement when I got the message, so it took me about an hour to go there and, of course, it was already too late; the crew was packing and the actors long gone. I still got to see for the 1st time this wonderful little place - which from what I found out was built around 1840- with its romantic nymphea fountain in the middle though. When I think I live only a couple of blocks away!

This is beautiful, and the night lighting makes it even more charming. I am sorry you missed photographing the crew and the actors. What film was it, do you know?
June 26, 2008 12:57:00 AM GMT+02:00
De nuit, cette fontaine est encore mieux!
One other place you didn't know Eric? Thank PDP! LOL
June 26, 2008 1:04:00 AM GMT+02:00
What a beautiful spot. Thanks for showing us.
June 26, 2008 1:11:00 AM GMT+02:00
Eric, What a wonderful, warm glow the lights provide. Another beautiful fountain.
June 26, 2008 1:16:00 AM GMT+02:00
A truly gorgeous place, indeed. Is that building commercial or residential? I would love to live there!!
June 26, 2008 1:55:00 AM GMT+02:00
Ditto!! I would love to wake up every morning to that!
Sorry you missed the filming, but I think you got a great photo!
June 26, 2008 2:00:00 AM GMT+02:00
Another "ooohh" moment when I saw this one Eric. You sure know how to take night shots.
Way to go Kelly -- GF!

It reminds me of a square in Savannah, Georgia. There were many built in the 1700's thru 1800's. Lafayette Square is one of 21 beautiful squares in historic Savannah. Lafayette Square honors the Marquis de Lafayette, or Marie Jean Paul Joseph Roche Yves Gilbert du Motier. Savannah's beautiful Historic District makes it an instant movie set. I remember a film made there "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".
Here is a nice B&W photo of Savannah. Savannah is one of America's best kept secrets.
BTW, See what you made me think of Eric. I love your B&W photo of the men tearing down the set. I think I would like to see this film.

Opps! I think I forgot to paste the photo link in my comment.

So Paris is where one will find the fountain of youth! I knew it! What an elegant photo, Eric. Romance flows throughout this one. Merci!
June 26, 2008 3:11:00 AM GMT+02:00
What a lovely photo. The light is exquisite. You have a winner here, ERic. This is a keeper.
June 26, 2008 3:38:00 AM GMT+02:00
This reminds me of a little square I knew in the 18th. I suppose there are many like this in Paris. Very cute!
But, Eric, I'd be carefull telling a group of people like us that you ran all the way across Paris to get a picture of something on request, because we're all gonna text you now ;)
June 26, 2008 4:12:00 AM GMT+02:00
Fab-u-leux! Sorry you missed the action, but this is so beautiful, quintessential Paris. And how nice that you discovered something new in your own neighborhood. (I'm heading for Google Earth now.) Would love to know the name of this flic, for future reference.
coltrane -- Once again, awwww!
June 26, 2008 4:14:00 AM GMT+02:00
Romantic atmosphere, dramatic lighting, a tasty movie location, and a feast for our eyes.
By the way, Eric, I noticed from Tomate's post above that you are taking text message suggestions, but there is nothing I know about Paris that could trump anything that you know or have have showed us so I'll just have to take a rain check on that. Later... Way later...
June 26, 2008 4:14:00 AM GMT+02:00
This looks like a movie set - almost too perfect to be real.
June 26, 2008 4:54:00 AM GMT+02:00
I am dreaming that some day if I continue to study and take lessons from your blog as well as the many other wonderful daily photo blogs that you have inspired, my long Island Daily Photo will be successful enough where people will be sending me tips about cool places to feature! LOL...this is a beautiful spot you have found Eric, Merci.
Lois Simon-I have seen and enjoyed that movie & although I have never been to Savannah, my mother-in-law has and whenever I speak of visiting relatives in Georgia she always reminds me that I must see Savannah!
June 26, 2008 5:16:00 AM GMT+02:00
Coltrane, Very sweet photo of you and your daughter. Pretty in Pink!
Lily Hydrangea, Yes, Savannah is a must see. And, since you have relatives there, you definitely should visit. Most people don't go there, or are uaware of all it's Southern beauty and charm. Full of old plantations and mansions too. The people there don't really boast it as a tourist spot. I think they want to keep it all to themselves;-)
June 26, 2008 5:23:00 AM GMT+02:00
I agree with Pont Girl. I want to live there. Eric, my guess is those spotlights on the fountain were for the film shoot, and aren't usually there, is that correct?
It's wonderful to discover something new in your own neighborhood. What a plus that it's something beautiful and romantic as well.
June 26, 2008 6:03:00 AM GMT+02:00
Love this photo! What an exquisite niche of a place!
There's something magic about night photos.
June 26, 2008 6:27:00 AM GMT+02:00
Ah, Eric. This is the typical romanticism about Paris that we all love. It is indeed a magical photograph. What a beautiful fountain in a lovely courtyard.
June 26, 2008 6:37:00 AM GMT+02:00
Another place in Paris I didn't know !
The list of my "places to visit next time" begins to look like an encyclopedia !
Curious to know more about this "Cité Trévise" I found this link :
http://www.linternaute.com/paris/magazine/dossier/06/paris-au-calme/10.shtml
Nice place even in day light.
I wouldn't dare to send textos to Eric as suggestions (anyway I couln't) but I am certain that some of the places in this file "Paris au calme" would give, with Eric's eye, some great pictures.
June 26, 2008 8:02:00 AM GMT+02:00
Alexa...Lois...merci![now back to plain old me mug!]
June 26, 2008 8:22:00 AM GMT+02:00
This is really a romantic photo,it has the real "Parisien golden glow" to it. I can understand why they picked this place as a movie location.
My first thought was:Eric, yet another fence :) It's great you discover new places in Paris to share with us, thank you !
I like the B&W photo as well. I would like to see this movie when it comes out.
June 26, 2008 9:51:00 AM GMT+02:00
Thank you Eric.
And thank you Kinneret to give him such a good tip... yesterday.
I looove to feel this romantic soul on PDP today...
I am sharing many, many of the superb comments I've read today.
OMG... you are great!!! ;)
June 26, 2008 10:24:00 AM GMT+02:00
Now that I am leaving ---for at least 3 weeks, lol, hint number one: print out everything you want to see that Eric posts. This is now on my NEXT layover to do list.
Guille: you are perfect flight attendant material! We have to grin and bare some of those rude people. Because of my job I am 98 percent nice to all service people.
June 26, 2008 11:55:00 AM GMT+02:00
This is a beautiful photo all round, the angle just adds so much to it...thanks for sharing I love your blog!!!
June 26, 2008 12:02:00 PM GMT+02:00
This photo truly shows the beauty of Paris. And Eric, I love it that you just discovered this spot! It reiterates that this city is filled with more beauty and enchantment than one person could ever fully take in. I long to get back to Paris where I can simply walk out my door and see something exquisite.
June 26, 2008 1:18:00 PM GMT+02:00
That looks so magical!
June 26, 2008 1:33:00 PM GMT+02:00
beautiful! Stunning! That's a fantastic shot, Eric. Congratulations.
June 26, 2008 3:42:00 PM GMT+02:00
Eric, this has to be my favorite photo of yours so far. I love the clarity of the foreground. When enlarged the sculpture atop the fountain as well as the base is so detailed that it "feels" wet. I adore you and your gift is incredible!
June 26, 2008 6:15:00 PM GMT+02:00
Marylène, Thanks for the daylight photo.
June 26, 2008 6:48:00 PM GMT+02:00
This is a suberb photographic Eric but 1 hour? If you want to play paparazzi you better get moving faster!
June 26, 2008 7:02:00 PM GMT+02:00
Rose: you'd be surprised how long it takes to get from one location in Paris to another (sigh)
June 26, 2008 7:06:00 PM GMT+02:00
Tomate Farcie
Are you a paparazzi too? lol
I know it is hard. I often go to Paris but I am never chasing film stars :) I tend to concentrate on hunting for shoes, nice clothes, CDs and good places to eat
June 26, 2008 8:40:00 PM GMT+02:00
Grrr... busy day.
Take care ;)
June 26, 2008 9:02:00 PM GMT+02:00
Notre reine est malheureaux, n'est-ce pas?
Je suis desolee, 'anonyme'.
It will pass. Go to a pretty place, sip a glass of wine, and listen, look, relax.
June 26, 2008 9:41:00 PM GMT+02:00
That is so nice of someone to inform you that you may get a good photo of an event. You do live in a beautiful place.
June 26, 2008 9:55:00 PM GMT+02:00
Oh Eric this is so beautiful!! I think Guille is right, at night the effect is probably better than in daylight. Thank you for this wonderful shot.
Coltrane: lovely picture of you and your little girl!!!!!
June 26, 2008 9:56:00 PM GMT+02:00
Hi Lynn! Hi Rose! I currently have no access to the internet from home so I´ll keep coming here ramdomly for a while, but I wanted to leave you both a gros bisous!
June 27, 2008 12:15:00 AM GMT+02:00
Hi everyone, I'm sorry, I'm kinda missing at the moment but I have had a really really busy week. It's a miracle I can keep up the daily rythm!
Everything should be back to normal next week.
June 27, 2008 12:38:00 AM GMT+02:00
Monica...merci, I know you had asked. Glad to see you back on PDP. Vacation?
June 27, 2008 6:39:00 AM GMT+02:00
Bless you, Eric, I'm sure we all forgive you and most of us know the feeling.
June 27, 2008 7:24:00 AM GMT+02:00
Hey Monica...
I have good news. I think I will be going to Rio after all :)
July 8, 2008 2:12:00 AM GMT+02:00
