The art of David Cintract
Close to Le Louvre, there is a pretty cool modern art gallery - called Art Club - that I love. Lately, as I was in the area, I took this photo through the window and I love the blurry effect. The man in the foreground is a sculpture (a mannequin) by David Cintract, a French "nouveau-pop" artist. Very talented - well, in my opinion! On a different note, it's time to buy your plane/train tickets to Paris to attend the 4th annual PDP Picnic (see event on Facebook) on May 13!

I like the photo, Eric. He looks like a big piece of chocolate wrapped up in pink foil. Miam, is that how you spell "yum" in French?
ReplyDeleteWish I could come to the picnic!
This is very cool, Eric. Love the colors! Plane ticket?
ReplyDeletePicnic? Oh, how I wish I could be there—I really really do!
Well, Petrea GF, that makes two of us right away who "wish."
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be nice, Alexa? See you on the banks of the Seine.
ReplyDeleteI happened to be on Facebook, where I almost never go, and there was a little note from Eric saying he was about to post his daily photo. So what did I do? I went directly to PDP and hit refresh, refresh, refresh...
LoL, Petrea! Is there a little pink on your crown today?
ReplyDeleteIt does look like something left over from Easter!
Bonjour,
ReplyDeleteThank for the link on David Cintract the French "nouveau-pop" artist. I do love the seeing what other artists are up to.
Artist & Painter... Moi.
Love it!
ReplyDeleteNow eric, I have to tell you it is ALL YOUR FAULT I am sitting here at the computer til all hours! I must actually thanks you for getting me into this photoblogging thing THREE YEARS ago now! Yes, SDP has had its 3rd b'day. And I have had 2 trips to France, and you to Sydney in that time, and we have not yet met in real life!
If my mom (95 yo) is OK, I'm flying over to visit a friend in Manchester after Mother's Day and will stop at the PDP picnic first. Here's hoping...
ReplyDeleteSally, 3 yrs, congrats!
ReplyDeleteUjima, that's so cool you might be going to the picnic.
Christie--chocolate men and shiny pink tin foil on my crown. But I always have tin foil on my head, it signals the aliens so they can find me when they land.
Petrea -- hey, you too? So let's meet on the banks of the Seine with tinfoil hats!
ReplyDelete(I was just checking PDP before I left work, in case Eric posted early. As addictions go, PDP is a pretty good one, don't you think?)
Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteCool photo! Petrea's right; he DOES look like a chocolate man wrapped in pink foil...
ReplyDeleteYes, Cintract is definitely POP. Merci for the links. In the ArtClub gallery, I noticed several NYC paintings. For some reason NYC is a popular subject in Paris. When I was there once showing a gallery some of my work, the owner really liked my NYC artwork.
ReplyDeleteAlexa, I'll put it this way: PDP is the healthiest addiction I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting and colorful, at least. But I don't think I'd want it in my home! :)
ReplyDeletePetrea, welldone GF!
ReplyDeleteSally, happy b'day ;-)
Eric, you're mentioning plane or train to attend the picnic! Do you also accept Velib'? Otherwise, I'll have a problem ;-)
Well, Sir Eric, it looks like Paris Set Me Free and Paris Daily Photo might finally meet - I'm planning on heading over to the banks of the Seine (an invitation I could hardly refuse) for your annual picnic.
ReplyDeleteHow will we recognise each other? Maybe wear each other's t-shirts? Wield PDP and PSMF calendars or wave branded keyrings?
No doubt we will meet, and I'm looking forward to meeting the master!
The picnic is already a success! Ujima, ParisSetMeFree, Lois Simon, who am I leaving out? I am not ignoring you Parisiens, all the "usual suspects". Maybe the chocolate man will attend, too.
ReplyDeleteArtist Cintract certainly has captured the Warhol, Lichtenstein groove.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at these daily pictures of Paris from my home in Canada for over a year now and enjoying them immensely. This is my first time leaving a comment and I just wanted to say that this page has helped make the wait for my Paris, trip which is happening in June, just a little bit easier. I am so sad that I won't be there in May though to be able to come to the PDP picnic. Oh well perhaps there will be something happening in June? Thank you Eric.
ReplyDeleteThis pink guy has a fantastic structure to him; LOVE him !
ReplyDeleteI think I'll visit the Art club when I come to Paris this time, sounds like an interesting place to go.
Oooh, shiny!
ReplyDeletePetrea, YAY! Even with a computer-gremlin handicap, you scored GF. Congratulations! {Hey, it's not your tinfoil hat that's interfering with your internet connection, is it???}
Angele, there are a few others visiting in Paris: Monica from Brazil for one. Monica, when are you there? Can you meet Angele? Will Reine Guillemetee Premier host a small reception? Is a bear Catholic? Oops, thinking about Rome before I get to Paris...
ReplyDeleteThe sculpture is really interesting I'm going to his site to have a look at the rest of his work.
ReplyDeleteThe picnic!!! Well I would if I could but... I can't.
He looks great, I agree!
ReplyDeletePetrea what's on your crown? Pink chocolate men, with cute little vol au vents to represent the picnic, may I suggest?
Ah oui, and the shiny 2009 sunglasses PHX gave me. I'm wearing them every day now through the 13th of May.
ReplyDeleteShell, I'm actually connected to the internet through my tinfoil.
My web connection is fine. The problem is the adware virus on my PC. So I have a Mac laptop on my desk for web surfing. We call it a "work-around." It's all sideways, though, so not great for my back. I'm surfing less and going to the gym more until I get all this worked out!
Souvent, toujours, souvent, toujours! LOL !
Have a good time all at the next 4th PDP picnic! I'll be with in thoughts ;)
{Anonyme, j'ai pensée la même chose au premier coup d'oeil. Et je préfère du chocolat aussi ;).}
ReplyDelete{Petrea, I'll try your foil hat trick next time I'm at a coffee shop with my laptop... by jove, you could be onto something.}
