The big ferris wheel is back
Between the end of June and August, there is usually a small - very small - amusement park in the Jardin des Tuileries (on the Louvre side). Its main attraction is a huge Ferris Wheel, located on the Louvre side of the gardens. Last evening, on the way back from a house warming party of a friend I photographed it just at dusk. The sky was cloudy but still a little blue, it was really stunning. I'm not sure I managed to catch this scene exactly as I experienced it though.

AAaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! When we spent 9 days in Paris, we walked through the Tuileries every night - and I can happily say that this was the first Ferris Wheel that I ever rode! The view was amazing... thank you, Eric, for the memories!

Beautiful! This one needs to be Zazzled.
ReplyDeleteEric, you certainly have a way with skies. This is gorgeous, gold against a blue background. Have you ever been on the ferris wheel?
ReplyDeleteA beautiful capture nonetheless! I was looking for the big wheel in May. Didn't realize it was a Summer thing.
ReplyDeleteSoooo beautiful! I officially miss Paris now....
ReplyDeleteAlways beautiful sky's shots! I love the blue...
ReplyDeleteWow! Eric has a twitter account ~ @etenin.
ReplyDeleteWarm summer nights, holding hands and... kisses.
I love the image, it reminds me of my first kiss... yep on a ferris wheel.
This is really beautiful, Eric.
ReplyDeleteRimabirdgirl: see post for Sept. 11, 2007.
Beautiful photo, its as if the wheel is peeking from behind the trees and provides this sudden burst of light.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, Eric! Its beautiful!! Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that there were two ferris wheels so close together during the summer. So, now I have another photo request, Eric - maybe you can find some upper floor location where you can capture both in one shot. That would be a both a beautiful and very unusual shot of Paris.
I'm assuming the other ferris wheel is still up in the Place de la Concorde - do they have that one running, too?
ReplyDeleteOn another topic, I just want to say that I've been checking in on Amir's site and there has been no further word. Of course, he may need to stay silent. I just hope that he won't be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteNot that anyone will care about the truth, but here's a link about that photo someone so *helpfully* lined to yesterday.

Aahh! Lovely. I'd like to be right at the very top on the Ferris wheel, looking down on the Jardin.
ReplyDeleteNow, see, Eric—this would make a fantastic Skywatch Friday shot. Truly beautiful! My kids rode this ferris wheel and got the amazing view. I love roller coasters and other crazy rides, but seem to have a problem with ferris wheels—so I definitely prefer your "Tenin angle." Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMammie -- congrats, GF.
Monica -- I'm ALWAYS missing Paris. Are you sharing pix of your trip?
Eric -- was the housewarming party for your friend who lived in the 17th and had to move from his 7th-floor apartment?
Magical photo! Makes me nostalgic for summer nights long ago...
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous shot Eric, I love the color of the Ferris wheel against the evening sky.
ReplyDeleteFerris wheels are about the only "ride" I don't get sick on. I always love the view at the top and I bet the view from this one is exquisite.
It may not be what you saw, but it's gorgeous nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Carrie, Amir is on Facebook. He's been posting and adding friends. I think he's doing okay.
Great shot!!! I can't say I'm a big fan of that thing, but you sure got a really, really nice shot! Well done!

ReplyDeleteThis is a fab photo Eric. I recently posted a ferris wheel and I must say I'm too scared to go on it lol. Love the night shot. Beautiful.
Petrea - thanks very much - as you may recall, I'd wondered in my post several weeks ago whether anyone had any news from him.
ReplyDeletewow...really beautiful...

This one has my attention. Wonderful light against that textured sky.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful...I love riding on Ferris Wheels and looking out over the crowds of people below.
ReplyDeleteSweet picture! I got to see it on one of my times in Paris. But that was before I knew my way around so I didn't actually remember where it was located. Thanks for reminding me for next time! :-)
