If the sky was empty ?
Today is the 1st of the month and, as usual, it's a theme day. Today's theme is: "Empty". I must say I had a lack of inspiration... And then I thought of a song by Alain Souchon - a French singer - who sang a few years ago a song called "Et si en plus y a personne!" in which the lyrics would go "If the sky was empty?". So let me offer you an - almost empty - Paris sky. That's all ;) Click here to view thumbnails for all participants

Empty? You could have photographed my heart, for it feels empty now that I am no longer in Paris.
ReplyDelete"If the sky was empty"... who will answer this question? Absolutely nobody, 'cause nobody knows...
ReplyDeleteA profound thought, Eric!
Souchon is one of my favorite singer (parents' heritage!). You have to read the lyrics...
"Abderhamane, Martin, David
Et si le ciel était vide
Tant de processions, tant de têtes inclinées
Tant de capuchons tant de peur souhaitées
Tant de démagogues de Temples de Synagogues
Tant de mains pressées, de prières empressées
Tant d'angélus
Ding
Qui résonne
Et si en plus
Ding
Y'a personne
Abderhamane, Martin, David
Et si le ciel était vide
Il y a tant de torpeurs
De musiques antalgiques
Tant d'anti-douleurs dans ces jolis cantiques
Il y a tant de questions et tant de mystères
Tant de compassions et tant de révolvers
Tant d'angélus
Ding
Qui résonne
Et si en plus
Ding
Y'a personne
Arour hachem, Inch Allah
Are Krishhna, Alléluia
Abderhamane, Martin, David
Et si le ciel était vide
Si toutes les balles traçantes
Toutes les armes de poing
Toutes les femmes ignorantes
Ces enfants orphelins
Si ces vies qui chavirent
Ces yeux mouillés
Ce n'était que le vieux plaisir
De zigouiller
Et l'angélus
Ding
Qui résonne
Et si en plus
Ding
Y'a personne
Et l'angélus
Ding
Qui résonne
Et si en plus
Ding
Y'a personne"
Anyway, we all have a god, no matter who it is.
Another song immediately comes to mind - "Le Ciel de Paris!"
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous.
Maybe Alexa took a photo of the NY sky yesterday. It was outstanding.
The NYC clouds can be seen here:

Bravo!!!!
ReplyDeleteI did wonder what you were going to post with this theme 'empty' and once again you make it great.
Well this French song helps. Et si en plus, y a personne ...
J'adore la mélodie. I do like the artist Souchon.
Many of his songs are really kind of gems to me. Yes, you may find that a bit exagerated but nope.
Well it sounds like an empty comment, I'm tired ... Or empty which means quite the same! in French slang 'vidé'.
Le Roi du Soleil is at it again...
ReplyDeleteNow, I remember the Genesis panels on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There is one panel with God creating the sun and the moon, and then the plants. God's robe is slipping and Michaelangelo got away with painting God's bare backside. It's fabulous. so, king of the sun, make sure your belt is tight!
I would have gone with an empty wine glass, maybe with an empty dinner plate where the Pave de saumon a l'oseille was. Maybe I'm just hungry. Maybe I just really need to get back to Paris.
ReplyDeletei can hear the angels sing. today is my birthday and seeing this beautiful paris sky is the best present. merci eric.
ReplyDeleteLove the shot!
ReplyDeleteMr. Blue Sky - ELO... :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pic, Eric. I'm afraid I totally forgot about theme day but didn't know the theme anyway so I'll pass on this one.
Very nice, Eric!
ReplyDeleteExcellent photo choice for the theme!
A very fluffy sky. I admire your lateral thinking, Eric. Do you do it while in position for your Tenin perspective?
ReplyDeletefrom cali ~ I'll offer subdued GF congrats for you today.

ReplyDeletefrom cali -- aawww! I know just how you feel, GF. But, Eric, this ciel nest pas vide—it's full of beautiful clouds! Still, I get your point—and thanks for the link to the rather beautiful song with the slightly disturbing video. And thanks, Guille, for the lyrics. What you said about all of us having a god, no matter who it is, really resonates with me at this moment. I just came home from spending the evening meeting my daughter Katie's Azerbaijani in-laws. Several religions—Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim— and a few agnostics represented at one dinner, and we all bonded beautifully. Wish it could be like that universally.
ReplyDeleteIf the sky was empty, the day would still be full. Such lovely sentiments here. Thanks, Alexa, I like what you said. Maybe it starts when we meet and talk, as we do here.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, sweet Maria.
Beautiful shot..love it!!
ReplyDeletefromcali...I totally get it! I know that feeling as well. :-(
I like it! California Nancee
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. I think Paris is not as empty as some places on Earth!
ReplyDeleteCali "Empty? You could have photographed my heart, for it feels empty now that I am no longer in Paris." oooh that's sad ans touching.
ReplyDeleteI was able to meet some lovely people in early June and as they say, "they can't take that away from me."
ReplyDeleteYou are the best, M Eric!
I forgot to add I met these lovely people in Paris - in case that wasn't clear.
ReplyDeletestunning sky!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dramatic sky photo... amazing capture. Have you seen Bruno?
ReplyDeletethe sky in paris is never empty. the light that pours over the city has a breath and life all its own.
