5 years!
So this is it... Today is the 5th anniversary of ParisDailyPhoto! I've posted 1834 photos since March 11 2005, every single day, without missing one. How's that for a commitment?! LOL. I've also met - or got to know online - an incredible amount of nice people from all over the world, and that is priceless. After 5 years I also thought it was time for a little "bloglift"... I wanted to wait a little more (I'm the perfectionist type!), but I decided to launch it today even though it's not exactly like I want this new layout to be ;-) As you will notice there are more opportunities to view the photos; you can browse by label, by category (Museum, Must see, Exhibition...), you can also click on one of the links suggested by LinkWithin under each post (it's not fully working yet as the service has to crawl all my photos...). There will also be other features in the weeks to come. I hope you'll like this new layout (even though I know that people generally don't like too much change!) and I welcome any comment you may have. Thank you very much to all of you, I enjoy your support, your nice words and your loyalty. BTW, I took this photo 2 days ago outside La Géode at the La Vilette park. If you look closely, you can see me in the reflection ;-)

woooooooooooooooot! Happy birthday and oh, my what a nice remodeling!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!. And thank you very much for starting this, and for sharing your way of seeing your city. I hope you celebrate your tenth anniversary
ReplyDeleteHappy 5th birthday to PDP, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI see the old girl got a face lift for her birthday - well she is getting on a bit!
She's looking better than ever now!
Eric I can only say THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your photos and comments. You know there are many people that every single day at this time is waiting for your comments and photos.
Greetings from Barcelona
OK, you asked for feedback. I would keep the photos and the daily article, the focal point. In other words, they probably should be centrally located, first thing you see when you log in.
ReplyDeleteI can't begin to tell you how happy I am to see the green dots finally disappear. I hate them with a passion (probably because many times, that's *all* I could load from the blog, no photo, no nothing, just the green dots! ;)
Good luck with your project and let us know if you need any help of some sort.
Happy Anniversary! What a gift you have given us Parisphiles for the past five years. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We love you, man.
ReplyDeletePS. I cheated, actually. I saw your blog earlier today when I was playing with an iPhone at the store. I was so surprised I almost dropped the phone O-O !!
ReplyDeleteps yeah, I know 3 comments, but this is a special occasion!!
5 years, that is a LOT of posts!!!
Thanks,Eric, for posing for my picture on this day, for the tribute to ParisDailyPhoto.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! Good job!!! Happy Anniversary! Keep up the great work, we all anxiously await our daily fix!
ReplyDeleteMammie
Bet wishes Eric on your blogs 5th birthday. Mine will be 4 later this month. I wonder if you realise what you've started.
ReplyDeleteNow then where's that virtual blog birthday cake!
Where am I?
ReplyDeleteIs that an ET ET ET link I see? Just for me, no doubt.
LOL
Best wishes for 5 more years!
Nice start, I must say... I'm off to bed now, but I'll wake up early tomorrow to read your comments ;-)
ReplyDeleteBises
(And Tomate : how appropriate: 5 comments for the 5th anniversary ;-))
In all the flurry I almost forgot to say that I really like today's self-portrait!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Eric, with my personal thanks for introducing me to the wonderful Daily Photo community.
ReplyDeleteI admire your commitment and persistence and hope to enjoy your Paris photography for many yars to come!
A big Cheers!
Where am I, where am I??
ReplyDeleteLove your avatar-like picture in the upper lefthand corner.
Everything is fantastic, tho I agree with Tomate on one thing, your daily photo needs to be featured more promenently.
Happy Anniversary!!!
As always, Eric, you are in the center of the picture, whether your image is apparent or not. I've been coming here for about 3 years now and look forward to every post. Thank you for all your hard work. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your labor of love (craziness?) over these five years. Everyday we get to share a little of your Paris, and it has been so enjoyable. I met so many folks, in person and on-line, through PDP and City Daily Photo. What a wonderful occasion to celebrate. Enjoy your blogoversary, and a little tribute over at SDP for you. Hugs!
ReplyDelete-Kim
Congratulations Eric. Just a super job and do so enjoy you daily photo!
ReplyDeleteI love it! And I love the blog. Paris is a place I've wanted to visit since I was a little girl, and your blog has made it that much closer. Merci!
ReplyDelete5 Years already... really? lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Eric!
Congratulations, Eric!!! What a fine thing you have created with the Daily Photo concept.

ReplyDeleteFélicitations. I live in the states and have been to Paris just once. You're my daily slice of life there. Thank you for your beautiful blog.
ReplyDeleteFelicitations Eric! This is an amazing achievement. You make my day, everyday!
ReplyDeletePDP depuis 2005!( Don't you just love how "fluent" I am) ! Well all I can offer is a great big toast of champagne for opening up a whole new world of friends around the world for me, Eric. This has been one grand ride pour moi. I've also so enjoyed meeting and getting to know you when I've been in Paris. Merci beaucoup mille fois, mon ami!
ReplyDeleteV
PS I salut to le Roi de la CDP on BOTH blogs tomorrow. How could I possibly do less?
Very teninesque, Eric.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, and many thanks.
Felicitations Eric on five wonderful years of captivating your homeland and 1825 of magic moments! I hope I can show so much enthusiasm and spirit after five years too! Best wishes, Therese Waddell
ReplyDeleteCongratulations from Italy! :-D
ReplyDeleteI've discovered your blog just some months ago (I still have to read the last four past years!) and this time I thought it was the right time to write something ;-)
congratulations on 5 years! Wow what an accomplishment! I love your site so much, it's on my homepage! Keep up the amazing work.
ReplyDeleteSigned, Lori from Michigan
"Congrats on the 5 Year Anniversary, Eric!" I absolutely LOVE the new webpage, although I like the old one too! But change is good! Job well done & keep up the great works of showing off Paris!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Eric, and thank you VERY MUCH for giving us a little bit of Paris every day, and for your friendship. I wholeheartedly again the Friendly Parisian does exist and you are one of them!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations again...and again, and again, Eric!! And, of course, merci.
ReplyDelete1834 photos - that is aloooooot. I hope you really do something special to celebrate this anniversary.
BTW - what is the "urg" category??!!
Congratulations Eric on a fantastic achievement: five years of continuous daily posts without missing a beat!
ReplyDeleteAnd BRAVO for the new look - wow PDP is entering a new era!
Lots of love from the south of France
Just one more little thought, besides not being able to enlarge the comment box - it was really helpful to have the date with the photo, and I don't think its there anymore. (And, even if Tomate is really glad to see the dots go, I'm still attached to them!) (But, change is good!!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHopefully by the 10th, I'll be able to have seen Paris in person!
I like the remodel on the page too :)
Congratulations on 5 years!
ReplyDelete"How's that for a commitment?" How I love a man who can meet a commitment. :)
ReplyDeleteFive years, that sure went fast! -- and many more to come. My website has been up since 1997 -- now I feel old. I owe it to Silicon Valley. They put me up and keep me running. BTW, my daughter said your new look -- looks modern.
I see you in the photo -- your reflection reminds me of those mirrors that warp the body at amusement parks. Way Cool! that you could capture that.
Cheers!
Congratulations Eric. All the best.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
It's Midnight in Paris,
ReplyDelete6 pm in Toronto,
I come to Paris Daily Photo
And click on the Refresh button repeatedly until the new photo appears,
To catch a glimpse of the Paris that I love,
Day after day after day.
So far...
And yet so near
Because of you and your dedication, Eric.
Comment puis-je te remercier ?
Bon anniversaire et mille fois merci !!!
Eric, thanks for inspiring me to start as well, and I like your new format!
ReplyDeleteHere's to another five years!
Sunshine Coast Daily Photo - Australia
Happy anniversary! Thanks for all your hard work and commitment. It is most appreciated. And I like the new look!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Eric. Thank you for all your dedication. I hope you'll have time to view all the tribute posts tomorrow, and know how you've inspired us.
ReplyDeleteTerrific photo for your happy anniversary.
As for the new look: Wow! Like a new paint job (with blue lights) on La Tour Eiffel! It loads fast, too. I agree, I'd like to see that terrific photo take center stage. And I might not have noticed the missing date if Carrie hadn't mentioned it, but I'd notice when I went looking for an archived photo.
Congratulations! You inspired me to start DowneyDailyPhotos.com, and I hope I last as long as you have!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! Hopefully, you are just getting started.
ReplyDeleteHappy 5th blogoversary, Eric! And love your remodel!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Eric! And again, thank you so much for your commitment in sharing photos of your lovely (and sometimes crazy-looking) Paris, and for starting this wonderful community.
ReplyDeleteI think your new layout is great. So much more things to navigate to and explore easily.
With much love from the other side of the world.
Eric, I stumbled upon the CDP blogs a few months back and it amazes me how a few photos and a few words can brighten my day. As a French student I absolutely love all of the francophone blogs, but seeing your little piece of Paris is a really nice part of my day.
ReplyDeleteChapeau! Et merci!
Eric -
ReplyDeleteI have followed PDP for many years, and I thank you sincerely for all the beautiful photos. I admire your project of bringing a little Parisian beauty to the rest of the world.
from,
Eric in Minneapolis
Merci beaucoup, Eric, for starting City Daily Photo. I've had a great time sharing my city with the world and seeing the world through CDP. Congrats on 5 years without missing a post . . . that's incredible and so is Paris.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous! Congratulations and thank you for five years of our bleoved Paris!
ReplyDeleteOnce again Eric, happy anniversary and thank you for giving us a little slice of Paris every day! This is a great shot to celebrate - a reminder that behind (or in front of?) each of these daily images, you are there for us with your trusty camera. P.S. Tomate, I always thought the dots were pink - maybe I'm colourblind, or maybe they change colour as they cross the Equator? But too late now to go back and check.
ReplyDeleteOMG=Ohhhh Mon Dieu!! I thought there was something wrong with firefox when I went to my bookmarks list and clicked on PDP!! What a surprise!! I believe that as of late I have fallen into that category of people that are rather suspicious of "change", but I think the new design will grow on me. I do like the new links to categories and the great view of your left eye at the top of the page!! LOL!! Maybe you can "Frenchify" the home page a bit by having the Eiffel Tower and a bottle of Vin Rouge come floating across the page when we first access the site!! Merci for all of your hard work Eric, hope to see you in Paris this year!! I can't believe it has been 5 years that we have all been going to PDP to get our daily "Paris Fix!"
ReplyDeleteHappy photo-versary !! I love seeing your pictures everyday and 5 years - wow!! That is committment! I applaud you - thank you for sharing your beautiful city with us for 5 years!
ReplyDeleteWow - 5 years blogging and 1834 amazing photos of Paris! Thank you so much for not only starting your blog, but taking time each day to photograph your beautiful city for us. A day without PDP is a lesser day indeed. I miss the dots, but I'm ok with change and I really like your new layout. Delightful self-portrait today!
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias Eric for the 5 years of devotion to your superb blog!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Eric! your new site is beautiful.
ReplyDeletethough I would agree about your daily photo, if not center stage, maybe in this format just a little larger.
It is always a treat to see your PDP.
Thanks for all of your inspiration dear Eric.
: )
PS
ReplyDeleteI love your face up top too!
We started making an annual May or June trip to Paris in 2005, not long after you started your blog, and I've been checking out ParisDailyPhoto every day since then -- every visit we've added "must-sees" inspired by posts and photos of yours. You've really influenced my perception of Paris -- so thank you very much and congratulations on reaching your 5th anniversary. Now if only I could co-ordinate our visit with your PDP picnic!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations 5 years, WOW!
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing a little bit of Paris into my life each day.
And yes, I see you in the photo today.. How cute.
Oh,it is good for people who is not in Paris, especially in China.Thank you.Eric
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteCongratulation! Your content is very valuable to me and just make it as my reference. Keep blogging with new post!
Cheers,
caillou videos | caillou games
Congratulations and thank you.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Love your blog, and the new look so great for those who are new to your blog. They can see so many photos which otherwise would have been missed.
ReplyDeleteAgree that the photo needs to take center stage.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, Eric! Thank you for many wonderful photos and such comprehensive links & organization!
--Elizabeth
Five years is a long time to be posting a new photo each day - and a sincere thank you for doing it!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the date would be very beneficial on each post and hope you can add it on easily.
I have not been to Paris in person, but I have been there through your blog.
The new look will take me a little to get used to, but I agree that change can be good. Best wishes to you in finishing up this project and thank you again for starting the City Daily Photo community.
Well I saw the blog yesterday evening when it popped up but it was too late to comment. Here it is 6:45am in Paris and there are already 60+ comments! What does that tell you Eric?
ReplyDeleteSo now we know...
5 years
1834 photos
But...
How many litres of petrol have you been through?
How many press conferences did you have to go to?
How many times did you go down on your knees and come up again to make the Tenin Perspective shots?
How many awards you have won?
How many bottles of wine at the PDP picnics?
Hmmmm, I bet PHX-CDG has all of this data!
CONGRATULATIONS to a wonderful blogger and man!
Eric -- Félicitations, mon capitain! I wonder just how many people you've inspired to start blogging. When I first saw your new design, I thought I'd gotten lost in the blogosphere. Change is good, and I'm SO glad your commitment remains that strong. Very happy to have met you here in NYC, and hoping to see you next time in Paris! My own small tribute to your dedication is here.
ReplyDeleteMichael - as far as how many awards Eric has won I'll make a guess: not enough!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! CDP is a great community! I'm pushing on my forth year and it's still fun and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
@Eric, that was only 3 posts, but if you want 5 posts for your 5th anniversary, I'm not gonna argue with that!! ;)
ReplyDeletebrb
Look, the "related posts" links are up! Pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd 5, that's 5 posts now.
Happy blog b'day Eric. You must know how much we appreciate all your hard work.
<3 <3 <3
Happy Anniversary and a BIG thank You!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Eric.
ReplyDeleteI love your anniversary photo and I think your new look is fantastic.
Here's to another 5 years of a daily look at Paris!!!!!
Thank you for taking all that time and trouble to share your world with us; and what a world it is! We love everything about it. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making 5 years - you have inspired us all.
ReplyDeleteThe new layout looks good. I added the "link within" widget but got rid of it after a while as it seemed to make the blog load very slow - it seems to work best on blogs with fewer than 300 posts.
Congratulations! I've obviously missed 5 wonderful years but I will make up for that now.
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations, Eric on 5 fabulous years, all those wonderful photographs bringing your Paris to our worlds, wherever we are. You have changed the lives of so many of us, I now have friends who are not just blogging, photography friends, but friends for ever - because of YOU! There's no way to thankyou properly for that but please visit Menton DP and Monte Carlo DP if you've a minute for special Eric tributes: La France Triomphante in bondage (!) and the Musee Oceanographic and both taken in the Tenin manner (I hope).
ReplyDeleteWith love and thanks and many congratulations again, from Jilly in the south of France. xxx
Great new look--fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy anniversary, Eric : )
happy birthday , great blog and great idea !
Bonne continuation !
Yeah sireee, I have to say I was hoping for a change in format one of these days and this change is fantastic! Really like it. Keep up the good work Eric!
ReplyDeleteDermo
1834 posts! AMAZING accomplishment. And thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!
ReplyDeletebut I will MISS the OLD layout....it was light, it was crisp and full of oppurtunities but now it seems commercial and heavy....
......baby come back!
Bon Anniversaire, Eric. Every day I thank that fabric salesgirl in Pennsylvania for introducing you to me!
ReplyDeleteThe new layout is great, but put the photo back on the right so I can see it first; I read from right to left, rightie that I am!
And when's this picnic? Sounds like fun!
Keep shooting the BEST!
Joyeux Anniversaire, PDP! Eric, Paris could not ask for a finer ambassador. Thank you for your commitment and your care. I cannot tell you how many times your photos, your words, and this site have "picked me up."
ReplyDeleteP.S. Being the responsible journalist you are, I assume you had to arrange for emergency personnel to be on standby for the moment when ET Suzy saw that dedicated link. Thankfully, she has posted, so we know that she survived the thrill! :) Truly, the new layout is fantastic.
Happy anniversary to PDP and to his big creator! This new look is a good change. I'll still have a very special thought to the previous version as, of course, it gave me... many emotions.
ReplyDelete5 years...
What did I do on March 11, 2005? Did not have the beginning of an idea. Did not know PDP, nor Eric Tenin, at this time. Met PDP somewhere in the first quater of 2007 thanks to an paper I read. And my positive intoxication to PDP since that beautiful encounter has never ceased ! Not a single day without checking PDP ;)
So, what about March 11, 2015? Ohh my... Hopefully, we'll celebrate (1834+ 1834 new photos) 3 668 posts, won't we ?
But for today, March 11, 2010, I want to say a BIG thank you to you Eric. Because you are the best, Eric, simply the very best ;)
Love Paris! Love Paris Daily Photo!. Merci Eric .
ReplyDeleteYeah, what Flore said! :-)
ReplyDeleteFélicitations, Eric! I have just passed my own 5-year anniversary with my blog, The Bold Soul™, but I have not posted every single day as you have! What a wonderful accomplishment! An amateur photog myself, who is now living in Paris for life (American married to a Frenchman, the classic love story), I really appreciate the quality of your photos. Keep them coming, please -- another 5 years!
ReplyDeleteFelicitations!
Congratulations, dear Eric!! Five years of daily posting is remarkable, and longer than many relationships! Thank you. My life is much richer thanks to you, your daily peek into Paris life, and the friends I've made here. And though not a Daily Photo-er, you did inspire me to start my own blog. You're the best!
ReplyDeleteAnd I had a huge smile when I saw that you'd unveiled your new look today. And no Botox was involved! You've already received some great feedback. Good for you ~ I'm happy to embrace some change. :)
Congratulation on your 5th anniversary!
ReplyDeleteCelebrate and have a nice and fun day!
Your blog is informative, unique has many superb shots. It give so much inspiration. Thanks Eric!
Five years! That is absolutely wonderful...many congratulations are in order and it seems many precede mine! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new layout, the header, everything about it. Am anxious to hunt and peck around the new space...how exciting! I just changed my blog design and I understand your concern that people will like it. I very much appreciate the changes commemorating five years of PDP.
«Louis la Vache» joins the chorus in singing Joyeux Anniversaire à PDP!.
ReplyDeleteCher Eric.
ReplyDeleteI might manage to be comment # 100 ??
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday PDP and nice template btw ;-) bv
We now have a reliable way of remembering which years were leap years. Just look back to see when Eric posted 366 photos! Failsafe.
ReplyDeleteNice post, Eric. Congratulations to you and the rest of the group at CDP for the daily dose of enthusiasm and for the opportunity to blog in a fine community of bloggers.
ReplyDeleteFélicitations !!!
ReplyDeleteet merci pour l'idée
bonne continuation
"You love Paris? You have never been to Paris but you would like a sneak preview?"
Sending hearty congratulations from Vermont, US, on this amazing accomplishment. You have changed the world with this blog and this community. Thank you! As for this image...it's almost geological with you at the center...just as it should be, particularly on this day.
ReplyDeleteOoooohhh! I lOVE it! It looks slick, professional and clean, Eric. It's gorgeous and there's our lovely Eric smiling out at us as per usual too. Thank goodness for that. Any change must incorporate that. Congratulations dear Eric! I have not managed to post every day so I am full of admiration.
ReplyDeleteI see you in the photo! Great shapes and patterns there. I have not visited for a while, for which I apologise and, looking back a bit, I adore The Other Side Of Paris. Though shabby and not the touristy part we all know, the colours are amazing! It's textural and best of all REAL. Thanks for showing it to us xxxxx Coucou!
Many Congratulation Eric !!!!! With PDP and CDP you created much more than a community: a wonderful way to be really all friends in peace. BRAVO !!!
ReplyDeleteI hope by the end of the day that you have over 1,000 comments! Thanks to you, many of us, including my husband and I, have started blogging! Love your new header and today's wonky photo.

Congratulations on your hard work, Eric.
ReplyDeleteWe do appreciate it!
And many happy returns
Happy 5. anniversary with PDP, Eric.
ReplyDeleteYour commitment to all this is amazing.
I really admire the way you share your love for Paris with the rest of us.
PDP is a great community - so please keep up the good work ;-)
Thanks to Eric and all the lovely PDP'ers.
BTW I love the new look <3<3<3
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have miss that for all the tea of China (?)!! Ou pour tout l'or du monde! I didn't miss the BIG 5-0, I am not gonna miss the Little 5.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary Eric!
Thanks for so many pictures of our wonderful city.
Thanks for keeping blogging after so many years. Well, I think you're paid back by all of us but thanks anyway...:)
I wish to PDP 5 more years to go. What am I saying: 10 more years!
Keep up the good work dear.
1834 kisses.
Guille
I have been a fan since finding your site before a once in a lifetime trip to Paris. I have been reliving that trip ever since though your pictures. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteShalom Eric, and mazal-tov as your blog starts its 6th year of life!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all you have done in inspiring so many new city daily photobloggers.
Blessings to you from Jerusalem where today the tricolor is raised and posted in your honor.
Many congratulations and thank you, Eric!

I've been told that all great success stems from passion and persistance - you've got it! Congratulations on making people HAPPY, Eric, because ultimately, that is what you are doing. xo Anne
ReplyDeleteBonjour Eric!
ReplyDeleteI got to work early this morning and what do I see on PDP?? A fabulous new blog. I love it! and of course Happy Anniversary. 5 years is a huge commitment. Here's to many more. I just signed up for the email subscription. I need that. I miss you dearly and wish you all the best. Chat soon!
Eric, Congratulations on 5 years! Wow. Absolutely amazing and your new site is stunning! A celebratory kiss, kiss, hug is coming to you from smack dab in the middle of the USA! ;) I "heart" PDP/Tenin! giggles.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 5 yr. blog anniversary! I posted something on my blog in honor of you. Hope you take a look.
ReplyDeleteHappy 5 years, Eric! It was my blog's 1st birthday yesterday and your blog was one of the blogs that inspired me to start blogging, so, thank you! The new design and search features are great, too.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! I thought I was on the wrong blog at first. I love your new layout but it will take a while to get accustomed to it. 3 years ago I took my grandsons, then ages 6 & 11, to Paris. We spent a day at LaVilette park. It was wonderful. We also have a photo from the same spot with our reflections showing. So cool..
ReplyDeleteForgot to tell you congratulations on your anniversary. Also really love the Paris clock on the page.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Eric, this is quite an amazing accomplishment! Blog looks good!
ReplyDeleteHappy 5th anniversary! I like the new look.
ReplyDeleteHi Eric! Greetings from the south of Brazil! 5 years is really something! Congrats! Washington.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Eric!
ReplyDeleteMy daily photo blog continues to be a great joy and a learning experience. I also appreciate all the friends I've made through my daily photo blog. In fact, tomorrow I'm going to go for a walk and take photos of our town with a friend I met through the blog. And I reconnected with a friend from college from over 30 years ago, through the daily photo blogs as well!
Bravo and thank you so much for your great original idea and constant inspiration!
Lori Lynn
First of all, congratulations for the five years of astonishing views of your great city! Second, thanks for conceive this wonderful idea of the daily photo blog.
ReplyDeleteThird, thanks again for let us join you in this magnificent journey.
And last (but obvious not least!) congratulations for this new look!
Ah, and more five years and much more for your blog and your idea!
Gosh, busy here isn't it? A bit like all the best parties. Now, where's the kitchen? Got a bottle of wine to put down somewhere.
ReplyDeleteCheers Eric, and congratulations on making it to one-twentieth of a century (makes it sound a little less obsessive that way). I can't quite make out why I haven't caught you up yet, maybe in a while.
Eric,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 5 years! That is quite a commitment! And, I for one am happy that you decided to undertake the project.
I, too, have met many wonderful bloggers through your Daily photo friends - and have seen places that I will never get to experience in "real" life...so, thank you...
And, I love your new look!
Congratulations, Eric, from an American who wistfully lives his dream Parisian life vicariously through you. To 5 more years!
ReplyDeleteThese five years have definately changed PDPers lives somehow, every day there is a wonderful post to read. I've visited this blog only about six months, but I'm really glad that I found it. I love Paris and through the blog it's just like being there every day for some minutes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eric, for this blog and congratulations! Many years more for the blog! :)
Bisous
Happy Birthday :-)
ReplyDeleteI normally check a couple other daily photo sites that are in my area before checking yours (saving the best for last). Imagine my surprise when I clicked on Greenville, SC's photo and saw a tribute to the "Tenin Technique" that many daily photo participants are using today! How fun! Exciting! What an honor for you! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteDeb Weaver, Pelzer, SC, USA
Thank you, Eric. Five years--it hardly seems possible. I love the new look...
ReplyDeleteCheers
Susan
Like several others, I too have been inspired by you to start Delhi Photo Diary. Thanks a tonne. I wish that in 5 years, you celebrate a decade of PDP and I can celebrate 7 years of DPD. :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks for being an inspiration.
Joyeux Anniversaire...I love the Paris time clock....love that.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to five years of blogging Eric! It has been a fun ride. I joined in April 2006 and I am still enjoying it as much as I did when I started. I took a photo in your style for today's post. Hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary Eric .. and best wishes for many more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration and the hard work to bring this community together. I remember the original few and your encouragement for us all to join in the your vision for City Daily Photo community.
I started my photo blog four months after yours, however it was not part of the CDP community until your talked me into a name change .. close to five years later I have wonderful memories of the experience.
Once, in a TV interview, I expressed my thought that what we in the CDP community are doing is bringing the world closer together in understanding and appreciation of each other.
Congratulations Eric !!! What an accomplishment!! I know you will take some amazing photos over the next 5 years. And I really like the new format... change can be a good thing ... Keep up the great blogging !!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversarry Eric! Thank you so much for your daily dedication to providing us with such wonderful pictures of Paris! I love the new look too:)
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Joyeux anniversaire! Je vous remercie pour ce faire--
ReplyDeleteMimi

Merci mille fois for your dedication to your craft and for creating the City Daily Photo community.
ReplyDeleteWhen Virginia (BirminghamDP) told me that we were going to meet you "in the flesh" last January I was speechless! Your generosity is legendary and yes you ARE the definitive Friendly Parisan - bon anniversaire à le roi!
Joyeux anniversaire, Eric !
ReplyDeleteBravo et merci ;-)
One a day for five years is a great accomplishment! Congratulations!
ReplyDeletelove everything about your site...the old one and the new one....a slice of paris heaven in my day......thanks
ReplyDeleteLike a friend who comes to your home often, I kind of knew my way around the old apartment. I didn't realize how much I use your links to others. Today I'm looking for the door that connects me with Mr. 9:09, or JM the Parisian daily blogger who takes a photo of himself at 9:09 AM everyday. With the remodel, I can't find a link. I hope you will add him back in along with others who were in your old sidebar link list whom many of us discovered through that old door :-). Also, I often click on the City Daily Photo Blog logo to reach the general portal and forums, but the link is not active to click on in current mode. Always a few bugs to chase down with changes. . . It's a big undertaking, remodeling like this.
ReplyDeleteI love that you bring the world together a little closer one photo at a time. Thanks!
-Kim
Congratulations on 5 years of posting beautiful photos of a grand city!!! The new layout is gorgeous. I wish you the best of luck for the next 5 years.
ReplyDeleteEric: Congratulations on five years of daily photo blogging and for starting a movement that has gone viral many times over. It's been fun to participate and I now count as some of my good friends many of the folks who are here--Virginia, Kim, the other Parisian Peter, Rob, Bob Crowe, et al. I also met my partner as a result of photo blogging.
ReplyDeleteHere's to the next five years!

I feel like you should be given some kind of award like going to school and not missing a day for 5 years! A perfect attendance and that is why you have such loyal followers. Best wishes for the next 5 years and beyond! Deb

I think its not only your dedication that deserves kudos, but your wish to create a way to do something truly meaningful for people. That's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is an everyday pleasure. I'm parisian too, but only since a few months, and I enjoy seeing all these beautiful pictures, which make me look at Paris with an another eye.
ReplyDeleteCongratualtions on such a significant milestone.
ReplyDeleteNot only have you created something that just keeps growing but I feel it really important to thank you for the help and encouragement you have given us in establishing our own blogs.

ReplyDeleteBravo Eric! Amazing accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteEric! The friend that Lori Lynn reconnected with was me!
ReplyDeleteWhat everyone's saying is true--you've inspired so many of us to blog, and through that we've met each other, met so many people, learned about our towns. Our worlds have opened up. Thanks for showing us how it's done and inspiring us to do it for ourselves.
USElaine left this comment on my blog today: "Sadly, I can't get a comment to post on Eric's new format. Here's what I wanted to say to him: 'I think no one will ever be able to measure the good you've given to the world through the effects of Paris Daily Photo. It has everything to do with your generous spirit. Thank you.'"
I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble commenting, but I'm sure that'll get ironed out. And I think Elaine's comment is right on.
my best best best wishes for you and your blog Eric!!!
ReplyDeleteWith love from Athens!
Who could not love Paris! It has I think a special place in so many peoples heart. Eric you bring so many memories of this wonderful city, and daily too!
ReplyDeleteFélicitations de Leeds en Angleterre.
I figured rounding it up to 180 would be nice!
ReplyDeleteWe all knew you had lots of friends out there but isn't it nice when they come out of their neck of woods to say hello!
Oh my gosh, I'm late!! Thank you Eric for this incredible gift. I can't tell you how much it's added to my life, brightening many days!! Merci Beaucoup! Valorie in USA (Colorado)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 5 years of non-stop blogging. I thought I was doing well to have 22 months non-stop. I posted a photo to honor your theme day a few days ago without really knowing who you are. I have looked through your blog and can see why you are so well thought of. I am linking to you from my blog so from now on I can follow your posts. Happy blogging :-)

ReplyDeleteThe 18k Yellow Gold, Fluted, crown makes this high end replica watches look stylish and classic. If you are looking for a replica watches that has more then just a time function, this replica watch also has a None calendar function.choose replica watch.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eric for reminding me of my love for Paris each and every day. Your photos are remarkable (and should be turned into a book). I would comment that the layout of your blog has lost some of the warmth it previously had. The layout is very clean and functional, but the subdued palette feels a bit cold and sterile.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to 5 more years!
I am happy to find this very useful for me, as it contains lot of information. I always prefer to read the quality content.
