I went to a Galette Party today (a galette is a cake that people eat to celebrate the Epihany (a Christian feast) after Christmas) and on the way back I passed by Les Invalides. It was a beautiful evening (it's still warm in Paris at the moment here) and I felt like taking a photo. I made a black and white one, for a change...
You can never go wrong with the classics, both in subject and composition.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been some party, since there doesn't appear to be anyone out & about on the streets by the time you took this picture ;-).
ReplyDeleteDid you find la feve???
It was a killer party: and now they're all invalids.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, who got the bean?
Beautiful and inspiring photo!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, I remember it well. PDP January 8, 2006 http://www.parisdailyphoto.com/2006/01/la-galette-des-rois.html
ReplyDeleteMerci for the memories.
Ahh, memories of Paris! Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures!! :) :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I like the symmetry and the black and white.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I add other than JUST BEAUTIFUL !!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bettina, anything else is just superfluous. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMerci, for brightening our lives with your black and whites, Eric!
Oh I so love this!
ReplyDeleteJeff, you've been very funny lately.
ReplyDeleteDitty, PHX.
I don't have an original thing to say. It's beautiful!
I think that "ditty" is pretty original Petrea!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo...thanks for the memories. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf you go way way over to the right and then walk a block, you will come to my apartment last June. I was there the whole month and still miss it! I loved the cannons in front of the Invalides, always pointed out!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have got to proofread before I walk away from the computer.
ReplyDeleteDitto, PHX!
Or ditty, if it works for you.
I was part of the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland many moons ago, and we did a tour of France as part of our summer week.
ReplyDeleteLes Invalides was one of our concert venues, and I'll never forget it.
I feel like this isn't the first time you've captured Les Invalides sans traffic. Well done and gorgeous in b&w!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful time at the Epiphany party.
Beautiful! Especially in b&w.
ReplyDeleteI like "ditty" Petrea...let's stick with that one :-)
