Paris, I love you!
I know I'm going to make you sooooooooo jealous, but believe me this past weekend in Paris was absolutely delightful. Just the right temperature, not too many people because it's currently the Passover vacation time and many Parisians are out of the city, and... a lot of sun. What more can you ask for?! Oh yes, a nice lunch at a terrace... That is what I had, twice. On Saturday in the Quartier Latin area and on Sunday at... er... The Hard Rock Cafe! I took this photo at Odéon (that is at the Latin Quarter), at the Les Editeurs, where I took this photo.

Eric—you're killing me! What I wouldn't give to be there now (and, of course we had rain today)! Thanks for the shot anyway . . .
ReplyDeleteBTW, you can eat at the Hard Rock because you're Parisian. But the rest of us have to stay away—because we'd be taken for tourists (oh no!).
ReplyDeleteDelightful! Love the perspective! It is like I AM there!
ReplyDeleteMerci for that!
Mammie
This is really beautiful shot! It must have been delightful in Paris this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat's messed up! All this time I tried so hard to not rub it in when it was cold and dreary in Paris and the sun was shining and the temps were warm in CA (not exactly the case today). And now you go and post this! Jealous? JEALOUS? I'm not jealous, but a tad envious of your fabulous life and way with a camera. And yes, we all love Paris too. (P.S. You aren't so bad yourself. :D)
ReplyDeleteJust noticed all the Anonymous spam comments in the Latest Comments box. WTF?
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I am jealous!
ReplyDeleteNice feel to this photograph, and a lot of glasses!
ReplyDeletethe light, the greenery, the cloth covered tables, such a great shot. & yes, I wish I were there!!!
ReplyDeleteso, I am embarrassed to say I just noticed your little film about the picnic. Oh my gosh! that is soooo funny. I love your dance moves Eric.
Sincerely,
a crazy PDP fan
: )
Amazing images! Paris, I miss you, I kiss you, I love you....oh yes, and Eric...I am jealous!

I'll arrive in 37 days, so make sure the weather stays nice for me! (Do I see a little volcano ash on that tablecloth?)
ReplyDeleteSpring has arrived, and I am glad the weather is good there. My old crab apple tree is blooming and the neighbors' tulips are very pretty.
I didn't get the sun like you have in the photo, but we took my mother out to dinner for her birthday at a hibachi grill. I got saki squirted all over me by the chef.
By the way, I can't comment anymore when I'm at work. They did something to the network security system that won't let me send comments. I'm sure the lack of my wit will change your lives.
ReplyDeleteI know many here won't agree with me but I have to say I'm not a big fan of the sun. Seriously I prefer cold, grey mornings followed by cool, moderately-lit afternoons. Where I am, it's sunshine 12 hours a day, 365 days a year. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteOh, please pick me up and take me next time!! This sounds absolutely fabulous. I can't wait until July or August to do that here!! So glad you had a great weekend, Eric. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteEric, I would recognize this photo as Paris no matter where I saw it. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteJeff, please comment when you get home. I don't think we'll be able to stand it otherwise.
Perfection!
ReplyDeleteJealous? Perhaps just the teensiest shade of celadon green. Your photo exudes the good life, Eric. I'm glad you're having some gorgeous weather as well!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand. Passover happened weeks ago, in conjunction with Easter. Why is France celebrating it now?
ReplyDeleteActually it's not Passover, it's easter vacation right now in France. Schools have their vacation at different times according to the zone they belong to, and Paris is the last zone, and this is the last week! Paris was wonderful last week end.
ReplyDeleteAs Alexa said, you're killing me too, Eric! I wish I was there enjoying the gorgeus weather and fantastic city...
ReplyDeleteFor the past pictures that you´ve posted, I can only say one thing now:
ReplyDeletea BIG merci!!
oh my goodness, that photo is so beautiful.....i used to ride my bike on those kind of days and stop at a sunny cafe every couple hours or so....ah......
ReplyDeleteLovely photo! Of course I have always liked these food, wine, cafe, shots! We had a lovely weekend in SF also, but too many LOUD people! The Parisian cafe life and style cannot really be found anywhere else...dommage!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend Eric! You do know how to make people jealous, don't you?!
ReplyDeleteThere is NOTHING like a lazy weekend, wandering in Paris and stopping at cafés' terraces...Really!
The weather was so nice last week that I decided to leave Paris for Provence where the weather is pretty much the same. But better. ;)
Enjoy, Parisians, I hope it's going to last!
That is it! Perfection!
ReplyDelete@Alexa "BTW, you can eat at the Hard Rock because you're Parisian. But the rest of us have to stay away—because we'd be taken for tourists (oh no!)." True! But this is the only place in Paris where you can have good American food!
ReplyDelete@Cali " And yes, we all love Paris too. " ;-) -"Just noticed all the Anonymous spam comments in the Latest Comments box. WTF?" Yes, I know, I cannot monitor all my posts unfortunately.
@Lily Hydrangea "so, I am embarrassed to say I just noticed your little film about the picnic. Oh my gosh! that is soooo funny." Don't be ;-)
@Jeff" I'll arrive in 37 days, so make sure the weather stays nice for me! (Do I see a little volcano ash on that tablecloth?)" LOOOOOOOOOOOOL "I'm sure the lack of my wit will change your lives." Yes it will. Is that the only excuse you found not to comment anymore???
Photolicious " Where I am, it's sunshine 12 hours a day, 365 days a year. Yikes." Er... Is that a joke?!
@Petrea "Eric, I would recognize this photo as Paris no matter where I saw it. Wonderful." Yes, true and I don't know why really (the Badoit bottle? The cigarettes?)
@Will "Perfection!" Er, don't overdo it LOL!
@Katie. "I don't understand. Passover happened weeks ago, in conjunction with Easter. Why is France celebrating it now?" OOOps you're right?. Thank you @Charlotte for your explanations.
@Guillemette. "There is NOTHING like a lazy weekend, wandering in Paris and stopping at cafés' terraces...Really!" I agree!
Eric: it's the leisure, the grace and the light.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot... the ambiance is perfect.
ReplyDeleteJealous? Certainly!
A little slice of heaven....

It's been awhile since you've had spammers. Wonder why they don't just give up?
ReplyDeleteOdéon is in the 6th arrondissement. It's actually already the st Germain area. It is certainly not the Quartier latin, which starts east of the boulevard St Michel, in the 5th.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a minor detail, but in Paris the distinction matters. It matters a lot.
To Simon, The Quartier Latin is a historic quartier, its not very well defined, but is in the 5th and 6th arrondissements. It would be fair to say Odeon is in the Latin Quarter.
ReplyDeleteTo Eric, Is it not the Vacances de Pâques or Vacances de Printemps, I never heard of Passover Holidays !?
Excellent perspective and DOF in this shot.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the series of white table cloths and glasses in an outdoor setting and when you wrote that you were going to make us soooo jealous I thought you'd say that you had attended the "dîner en blanc" but it's a bit early in season for that, isn't it? I'd love to attend that one day.
