Sunset over a Paris building
It's been a beautiful day in Paris today and it showed. I took this simple, but beautiful atmosphere photo at the end of rue du Temple, near Republic. This is - well I think! - a typical Haussmannian building, which means no more than 5 stories above the ground floor, balcony on the second (third for the Americans!) and 5th floor, same height for each story, and carvings on the facade. Thank you Mr Haussmann!

What a lovely blue sky, with the plane flying by.
ReplyDeleteA tantalizing shot.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying nice weather in P-ville. Your camera has really captured this building's artistic splendor. Ah, the glory years of architecture! (Didn't know about the 5 stories' rule). BTW...I see your scooter sold on eBay for just under $400. Were you satisfied with final bid?
ReplyDeleteThe detail in this building is extraordinary and the colour of the stone against the pale blue sky is breathtaking! I could look at this kind of stuff all day! Clever photo Eric.
ReplyDeleteYou've been blessed with great architecture.
ReplyDeleteMerci M. Haussman indeed. Lord I love the buildings in Paris, along with everything else!

PS. Including you Eric :)
Exquisite building! Wonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteMerci, M. Haussmann—and thank you,Eric!. Love the contrail left by the plane flying over this lovely edifice.
ReplyDeleteWow! how do you say beautiful in French?!
ReplyDeleteHow splendid it is. Not only because of this somptuous architecture, (really stunning to me) but also because of the urge I often feel to look up in the sky. This top building is so breathtaking, I should not will to go away anymore when I see that comforting beauty. Maybe what I really love is the contrast between the strenght of the building and the apparent lightness of the plane. Actually as a plane is almost as strong as a building, the contrast is only due to the distance. Yes, that may be thought of!!! Lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a very nice sunny Sunday.
Aaaaaahhhhhhhh.....
ReplyDeletewow.. this weekend is sunny!!
ReplyDeletei heard that rounded corner of a building (as seen in this photo) is speciality of building in Barcelona!

Bonjour Eric,
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Haussmann's ideas influenced many of the architects who designed the roadways of London and even Russia.Love him or hate him, you must admit he was revolutionary!
Nice photo Eric, although I would have liked to have seen more of those gorgeous wrought iron balconies which inspire some of my quilt designs! Best Wishes, Therese
