Classic view
I spent Sunday afternoon at Le Vésinet, a nice suburb of Paris, in the sun surrounded with friends. On the way back I passed by Porte Maillot, at the bottom of l'Avenue de la Grande Armée, from where you have the best view of L'Arc de Triomphe (in my opinion). The French flag between its "legs" is usually not there. They hang it on special occasions, like the recent 14 juillet / Bastille Day. That's all. Have a nice week everyone!

Wow—that IS a classic! Very impressive shot, Eric.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a lovely Sunday.
It also looks like all of Paris is returning from the weekend with you!
ReplyDeleteOH my. I would love love love to see pictures of the Vesinet, or even better- Croissy sur Seine. I used to live there and miss it dearly. :(
ReplyDeleteNow that's a shot I'd love to have taken Eric. Bravo. I had my French flag flying on my house this week as well.
ReplyDeleteVive la France!

Beautiful shot, Eric. Thank you! Bonne semaine.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Belated Happy Bastille Day to Eric and to all of you. 'Love this photo and this site.
ReplyDeleteWonderful and especially with Tricoleur flying proudly!
ReplyDeleteAre you exiting Paris on 1st August like everyone else??!!
Nice shot, Eric!
ReplyDeleteThe Arc de Triomphe is in the mood, between le 14 juillet and, next Sunday, the end of the Tour de France (another photo, Eric??) ;-)
I also made a series of shots of the Arc, and its sculptures, last week.
It doesn't get much more Parisian than this. The flying French flag really adds something though. I never tire of seeing this magnificent structure.
ReplyDeleteI too would love to see some photos of Le Vesinet. Out of curiosity, I Google Earth'd it as I never heard of the area. It looks quite beautiful.
As Roses, Lace..., I am wondering whether you will soon be escaping the city for a time.
Classic and gorgeous! Oh, what a beautiful day there in Paris, Eric. I hope you had a lovely time this weekend. We did here!
ReplyDeleteThat is a classic and a marvelous shot Monsieur Tenin!! It just makes me miss Paris more, however friends just returned and they were wilted from the heat. They do live in SF though and just aren't used to that kind of weather...LOL!!
ReplyDeleteLe Vésinet looks like a great place to be surrounded by friends. From the Wiki article it seems that Le Vésinet is a kind of “Beverly Hills” of Paris.
ReplyDeleteNot atypical of homes in Le Vésinet, Le Beau Chêne, was owned by an American for 18 years: the inimitable Josephine Baker. Is there a contradiction between her home and the YouTube clip that scratches beneath the surface of that corner of Le Vésinet? “Since I personified a savage on the stage, I tried to be as civilized as possible in my life,” she was once quoted as saying.
It looks wonderful with the flag flying!
