The power of a signature?

Two French journalists from France 3 (the 3rd TV channel) are currently being held hostages in Afghanistan at the moment. They have been held in custody for 6 months now (since December 29, 2009), so Reporters without Borders decided to draw the attention of everyone by installing a huge paperboard on the Luxembourg Gardens and by inviting passers by to sign. This guy was one of them... Have a look at a broader view here and visit the site that supports them (in French)

  1. Dirty fingernails. I wonder what he does for a living.

Very sad for Hervé and Stéphane. They ought to be proud of what they do and for the courage it takes to do it.

  2. What a mess, from every perspective. And every person I talk to about it has somebody to blame. Well, an attack on the U.S. came from the cruel people who controlled Afghanistan. The U.S. invaded there, then for bizarre reasons ignored that war and started another one, and acted cruelly in many situations. Many people and nations hate the West and support the original cruel people, who attack...

    Please connect the dots...

    What a mess.

  3. That's a good idea.

And if, on top of that, this could lead to a true result. What can be more hoped ?

  6. Sorry, should have mentioned the worthy cause but you know me and photography! Your shot drew me to the issue, which is always good. Did you take a pic of your own signature and of the others?

  8. This shot and the one you link to are both powerful ones, Eric. And as Jeff says, "what a mess."

  9. A woman goes to prison in Afghanistan if her suitor proposes marriage to her directly before the suitors parents present themselves to her parents. The USA sends billions of tax dollars from US Taxpayers who live in a country where the unemployment varies from 9% to 25% depending on the state to support a primitive society. Now, you tell me what is wrong with this picture??

Most Americans aren't interested because they are too busy wondering about what happened on the "Housewives of New Jersey" or some other inane BS TV show or the next sale at the GAP or if the guy next door thinks they are a "hottie." Give them Bread and Circuses...21st Century Style. Afghanistan exists so War Profiteers can make more money. Good times ehhh???

Nice photo about a relevant issue...and I don't care about dirty fingernails[unless he was a doctor assisting me..]merci!!!
