I know there is a trick to do this, but I really wonder what it is! I saw several of them in Paris these past weeks (I think also last year) so I suppose it's the new trend (the fake still statues are so passé now!) - I photographed this one at the Beaubourg center. It's quite impressive anyway - If ever you have an explanation, please let us know! Have a nice week everyone... Here, it'll be raining until at least next Sunday!

I don't know what the trick but what is really "incroyable" is that it is going to rain the whole week.

An iron bar pass into his sleeve, then go down and end in a small round stool ;-)
ReplyDeleteTrick or no trick, you still have to look the part, I think. And he does.
ReplyDelete...a small round stool...I...I guess that would support him, but...is that literal, or is there a language issue here...?
ReplyDeleteFascinating photo! And the link from Anonymous and Fabrizio's explanation show how it's done.
ReplyDeleteI always think there's something every time I come across this type of magical scene, which amazes me, but I do not often find the trick. The Youtube link is enlightening. The mystery is also to ask what it really pays? What do they seek/get ? Money, admiration ? I must admit that I give more often admiration than money when they surely want money. Though, given the number everywhere in the world, it has to bring some good things. I guess people are more generous than I am... ! I'll think twice next time I see one !!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the statues. This is just a bloke sitting on a seat (better Jeff?)
ReplyDeleteSo you really can sit around and get paid for it!
Cool photo, silly trick. Sorry about the rainy week ahead... x Katie
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who's impressed :)
ReplyDeleteoh they're everywhere alright!
ReplyDeletei've seen them performing across europe sometimes with a partner,
like you, i.m no good at tricks either but i do love the performance.
Never try to explain a trick, just enjoy it. I remember reading a lot about this a few years ago.
