In Paris, there is nothing more beautiful than the river Seine banks. And more precisely most of the bridges that allow to go from one bank to another or to go onto the two islands located in the very center of the city. The bridge that I shot here (in the background) is called Le Pont Marie (after its architect Christophe Marie) and it was built between 1614 and 1635... And as you can see, it is still up!
It is not only still up, it keeps up the spirits and looks better than most of its modern colleagues!

ReplyDeleteI actually had to look up where this bridge was on a map, although I had figured out that it connected ile Saint-Louis to one of the banks. I actually do not know ile Saint-Louis, although my godmother lived there when she was a little girl (and took me there once to show me where she used to live, but this was years and years ago.)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it it very nice. I like this type of very old bridge much better than bridges that are more ostentacious like le pont Alexandre III.
