I took this photo on the river banks (the Seine, of course) and kept wondering how this guy can use his car providing there is another boat between the banks and his. Or maybe this is just for the scenery - this car actually looks very old and is probably more a collection car than a day to day one. Have a nice week-end everyone.
wow.
ReplyDeletethat's all i have to say.....wow. bonne idee!
I remember this car, got a fun photo of it myself. If you look closely you'll see the propellors under the rear bumper. It is an amphibious car: car and boat. This is a great area to walk in the morning. The denizens of the houseboats are emerging, coffee in hand, to sun on their decks. Great shot, Eric.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way, there's a small Hot Club Jazz festival Saturday in Minneapolis. Four bands in a parking lot behind a new building with a pizza restaurant and a Thai restaurant. Pretty fun assemblage of cultures.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, I think I remember that car, too! Probably even have a picture of it, I think, but nowhere near as good as yours, Eric :-D
ReplyDeleteI especially like the color, of course ;)
C'est Tomate rouge, oui?
ReplyDeleteJeff: mais bien sur!
ReplyDeleteAmphibious? Now there is a sight... can you imagine these people drive that thing down the Seine :-D
What do you call the driver of an amphibious car that is driving in the river through Paris?
ReplyDeleteIn Seine! (insane -- get it?)
Ohhhhh, I just kill myself sometimes.....
Yes, I remember this amphibious car as others have posted. I think it came out sometime in the 60's and really did work. It is not very large. Wonder if you need a special license to "pilot" it!
ReplyDeleteHey Eric, where are those vacation snaps from Turkey! Bet you found some fabulous things. Or did you really go for a vacation and relax.
Kudos for your site and all it has fostered.
How CUTE! I want one! Neat find Eric...how's Paris these days? Have a great weekend yourself! (=
ReplyDeleteHey everyone, I've got you all beat! I KNOW who drives this red car and it's this guy !
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to start the weekend with a laugh and a smile! I'm imagining Maxwell Smart or Inspector Clouseau driving that 60s red beauty down the river and right into a bridge or something. . .
ReplyDeleteA wonderful shot, and fun comments.

Don't you just love the idea that there ae people in the world willing to be crazy, when others might be laughing at them. The person who owns this car obviously has a fun streak in them and yes, might enjoy the attention. But how many of us shy away from being different? Certainly not soosha_q !
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute shot Eric. Whats a litre of petrol worth in paris these days??
ReplyDeleteWicked! A boat dressed as a car!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend Ercic.
Curly's Photoshop
Red and white car! Cool one!
ReplyDeletescouter, that joke was too funny. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteMichael! You're simply the best. If I ever come to Paris we're gonna have to do something totally crazy and different and fun together! Wooo! (I've been in a really good mood all morning, so you just made me really giddy with your compliment! *squee*)
Hi again. Just want to show off my new picture. My little guy took the picture on my digital camera while we were camping over Labor Day weekend. Not bad for a 2 year old, no? I like it, anyways.
ReplyDeleteThis one really takes the cake! It is not enough that the man lives in a boat. . . he now has a floating garage too? No where else but Paris??? :) Don't ever talk about Texas weirdness.
ReplyDeleteBut how many of us shy away from being different?
ReplyDeleteMichael, Michael, Michael... You've been living in France too long!!! ;)
I did not know that many of you knew about this car. Funny. And, Jeff, Bravo. You spotted the propeller ; I had no idea this car was amphibious.
ReplyDeleteScouter 573: I must confess I laughed. I should not encourage you, but I did!!
That is some link Bakery Bear!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's some cool link, Bakery Bear, thanks, man! These cars are cool.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing this on my last visit - what a great car/boat. Solves the commute and parking problems in one go!
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea, I thought maybe it was for a movie or something.
