French Car
Until I took this photo and did a little research on the net, I was sure that France had only 3 car manufacturers: Renault, Peugeot and Citroën. I know now that we have a 4th one, called 4 stroke Rumen (Rumen, is the name of the car designer and founder of the company). As you guessed, it's not exactly a mass produced car - nor a cheap one either (55 000 €) - but it's got a real original shape and obviously attracts attention. Here is a little video, if you want to see it in motion.

My first car (that I purchased myself) was a Renault...but I think that I'll take one of those! What a smart-looking car!
ReplyDeleteIt looks a little bit alien-like to me. The best part of the picture is the expression on the faces of the people - and also how they all appear to be leaning to the right!
ReplyDeleteit looks like part of my collar bone.
ReplyDeleteWicked awesome! Thanks for always keeping us in touch with French innovation!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the car! It looks very chic and futuristic too.
ReplyDeleteEric you know I love everything you publish, but oh Lord I gotta say: that is one ugly car!
ReplyDeleteHow do you find these gems? or do they find you? Only 55K for a 2-seater? France has come a long way from the Citroen 2CV.
ReplyDeleteJ'aime la Rumen. It's low slung, sleek and chic! The video was cute. But, mince! I have Moët et Chandon taste on a Stella Artois budget. I put $99 down on a Smartcar Fortwo.
ReplyDeleteI was born free but now I am expensive... I definitely want one.
ReplyDeleteIt has many retro details which makes it very elegant and sexy. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI need a little more truck space . . . Love the onlookers ;) Great capture.
ReplyDeleteSympa! Le design est tres original avec sa ligne ronde et en forme d'abeille à l'arrière et son look de traction avant. Les fenêtres en forme de goutte sont tres chouettes aussi. Un peu chere quand meme!
ReplyDeleteMonica, you think so? I love it. It looks like it comes from a cartoon. And if phx-cdg has a collar bone that looks like that, ooh la la!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a car like this!!! Wow! I'm not sure if I like it or not!

I love how you selected the people and expression and how you worked on the picture but I have to be mean apparently the designer had not the same attention to detail
ReplyDeleteI love the reflection of people in the window framing the lady drinking a Coke in the cafe.
ReplyDeleteReally excellent shot.
Monica you need to see the film where they show the front of the car.
Michael what can I say? I agree with Pont Girl that it looks a little alien-like... and aliens usually are not cute right?!
ReplyDelete;-)
The spectators must be thinking:
ReplyDelete''55,000 Euros for that? You must be joking!''
The passers-by make this a really good photo. The car is pretty awful.
Renault, Peugeot and Citroën cars are available in Singapore, but not Rumen!
ReplyDeletecool design!
Well Eric your photo is not showing for me i am afraid. However i saw your video and my verdict is... tres jolie! Destinee aux femmes, oui! Moi! lol. The front is beautiful, classic, reminiscent of an era long lost. The back lets it down a little, trying to be too dynamic. Should have continued the classic style in my opinion. In white, it is superb too. I love it. Not very practical though is it? Still...sigh.... if i could afford one of those i'm sure i could afford something else for the shopping and passengers!
ReplyDeleteAnother person here who can't see this photo. Even if I click on the blank spot it should be in, rien.
ReplyDelete:(
Can see neither the pic nor the video???
ReplyDeleteIt does look a bit "cartoon-ish"...or perhaps something Peter Sellers would step out of in a "Pink Panther" movie!! LOL!! I think I would have a hard time getting in and out of it!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteOoh well this'll teach Eric to go out partying without checking his blog is okay won't it! He's obviously out on the town as i know if he was home, he'd surely fix the wayward picture. We know what you're doing, Eric; caught partying!!
ReplyDeleteLOL Lynn, actually I saw they was a problem this afternoon while I was in my office and there was nothing I could do...
ReplyDeleteI just replaced the link, it was Google's fault!!
I don't know if I should say "cool car" or "what an ugly piece of sh..." Either way, the price tag is a little bit much for me.
ReplyDelete(By the way, I saw on the news yesterday that SMARTs are finally coming to the Bay Area, but the wait list to be able to buy one is ... 1 year!
The car reminds me a lot of the classic Talbot teardrop two-seater of the 1930s.
ReplyDeletehe he so not partying then Eric? Okay i'll believe you, thousands wouldn't (English saying). So now i can see the pic! Beautiful, i have to say. Can you have them send one over to the UK for me to review, please Eric?
ReplyDeleteThe car has nice design, But I guess it is two seater. Recently Tata(India based car manufacturer)has produced four seater car for just $2500 approx., and named "nano".
ReplyDeleteUK Breakdown Cover
Oh what FUN! Quirky French design flair at its best!
ReplyDeleteI saw the car parked at Saint-Germain-des-Pres last week! Did you see it there?
ReplyDeleteI like the expression on the guy to the right of "The Phil Collins" look alike. Not hard to imagine what he's thinking. Great shot of an ugly car! BTW...for the price tag, what's with the hideous wheels? Definitely, not a SMART car...especially considering the price tag!
ReplyDeleteIf it comes to America they will have to change the name. Rumen in English refers to the first stomach of a cud chewing animal, such as a cow.(Not that many people know that bit of trivia) Also that Indian car company Tata that John mentions is American slang for breasts!
ReplyDeleteKinda looks like a 21st century 2 chevaux, new and old at the same time... don't like the white color though
ReplyDeleteLooks like a Bugatti Atalante that spent too long in the dryer! But I like it. Have to have it in French Blue.
