I
already showed this lighthouse in August 2006, but I can't help showing it to you once more, (but this time at night). It's located just off the
rue Castagnary (14th arrondissement) and I pass by it every evening on my way back home. Why is there a lighthouse in the middle of Paris? Just to attract attention to the local fish market located right underneath it!.
The colors in your photo are surreal. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors too. Your posts are always fun and exciting.
ReplyDeleteThat is cute.
ReplyDeleteAnd I see a pizza sign, across the street.

Are there 3 moons in your photo?
ReplyDeleteI meant to write something else, but my computer crashed and I see the comment was sent anyway! Pffft. I need a new computer me thinks.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it is great to see this lighthouse at night. I still haven't seen it in person, but imagine it's quite an expensive way to publicize a fish market.
I was wondering why there was a lighthouse in the middle of Paris until I read further! lol Great photo!

I love the frills of orange/red light. It reminds me of a flamenco dancer.
ReplyDeleteI live just down the street from this lighthouse and for a year I have wondered about it, so thanks for clearing up the mystery of "A lighthouse? WHY?"
ReplyDeleteNice shot, too.
Hi Eric, I live in Paris but I had no idea this lighthouse existed... Thanks for introducing it to me.
ReplyDeleteI have started a blog about Paris with an emphasis on fashion, art, design, and a youthful, fun-loving tone. I occasionally recommend some stores or attractions I like and also feature the first Paris Dog expert (my very own dog, who blogs about Paris and other things...).
I'd love to exchange links if you're interested!

As I am not so far from it, I will soon go and see it closer ! Because a lighthouse in Paris is still something worth to see !
ReplyDeleteI bet that may appear to me less beautiful than in your photo (I will tell you if i go !).
"Pizza sign", well seen ! I didn't pay attention to it at first !

Very surreal.
ReplyDeletehi I have been watching your blogg for a year and think its great. I have been to Paris 3 times and enjoyed it very much. You manage to show me things I havent seen!!
ReplyDeleteThank you & Best Rgds
Gary
All of the time I have spent in Paris and I don't think I have ever seen this. I will make a point to go there the next time I am in Paris...and I'll probably buy some fish!
ReplyDeleteAs a New Englander[originally]you know we have a certain affection for lighthouses. ;-)
HI eric,
ReplyDeleteI lived in Castagnary, but before the lighthouse was there. I have to go back to my old fief now indeed to see that !
glad you answered the question, I was wondering why a lighthouse in Paris! But they are great, in my opinion you can never see too many lighthouses!
ReplyDeletea lighthouse to light the hearts of Parisians :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Eric, Interesting photo. I bet the lighthouse acts as a beacon for the seagulls, as it's above a fish market.
ReplyDeleteDear Eric, Happy Birthday!!!!
ReplyDeleteWish I was there to give you a box of of favourite delicacy... just like you so kindly did l'an dernier.... but since I'm not in my favourite city right now, here's what I have to you
Hope you have the best time ever today, a big party filled with friends and a big cake to celebrate this date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
