Chairs forest

Here is a very "conceptual" photo to start the week... I took it at Le Luxembourg gardens where the weather is still not nice enough to use all the chairs. I saw them stacked near the entrance and thought it would make a cool photo. I'm still not sure it does LOL. The thing is that my scooter died this weekend and that it kind of prevented me from taking the photos I wanted to take... Anyone has a scooter to sell among my readers?! Please it's urgent... (I can do with some advice too).

  1. First thing: I'm extremely envious of this photo and your photographic eye in general!

Second thing: I can't see how the lack of a scooter can stiffle your photographic vision. Unless you are in the process of giving away your professional secret - that you fizz around Paris all over the place on your scooter in order to get the great shots you show us each day. Ah haHHHH. I think we are onto you, Sir Eric..!

  2. It looks like a herd of steers marching toward us! No, I'm not on anything....Picasso used a bike seat and handles to this effect.
    Love the symetry.

  3. Interesting photo today, I would never have guessed what it was if you hadn't told us.

  4. I guessed it right off! Some day soon people will be people watching from these chairs.

As for the scooter... sorry, I'm not in Paris (yet!)

This using a scooter in order to get shots totally shoots my reason for not taking pictures of TinyTown. I said I couldn't take pics because I drive everywhere! My town is the size of the 9th arr. or less! I'll have to try harder.

  5. I love it! Reminds me a bit of that shot you took of the cafe chairs stacked up in the Place des Vosges a long time ago (March or April 2006, I think). So sorry to hear about your scooter—hope you find the perfect replacement very soon!

  6. Eric, I sympathize, having been without a car in Los Angeles for more than two months. Ah! C'est terrible!

But your photo is delightful. You may have to treat us to more Metro shots for a while. I, for one, will not complain.

  8. I love all the herd of steers comments.

When the page first opened up my first sight of the photo confused me but after only a second or two I recognized it as chairs.

A very unusual shot, and I like it.

  10. In the meantime, you might trade the scooter in on this...

    Just trying to be helpful...

  11. Looks kind of like a sea urchin, tresses dyed silver, with plural mohawks.

  13. I very much like the shot, and the title of the post is perfect!

Must say that I am impressed that you get around the city on a scooter and I hope your transportation challenge is solved quickly and without much stress.

It looks like those ahead of me have posted some fun/funny links so I'm on my way to check them out!

  16. I hadn't scrolled down far enough to see the article under it but I knew immediately it was Luxembourg Gardens - I lived not far from there and it was my favorite place to go and read! AH, how I miss it.
Try walking - it's good for the soul!! or a regular bike, good for the legs!

  17. You are right jkg and I've enjoyed reading what you wrote. Funny you knew immediately it was Luxembourg as I did too in my turn!
Eric, this is too bad for your scooter :( I don't have much advice to give you in scooters (notice, I don't exclude I could in other areas ;)) except this one : please choose the safest one! I heard those which two wheels at the front are safer than others with only one. You may not like their look though...
Well, in the meanwhile, jkg is again right ;) Walking is good for the health! Tomorrow, I'll be a pedestrian too as I'll have lunch in the center of Paris before coming back to work. I'll try and see you in the metro. That would be fun to ... fall on you :)

  18. Nice conception! I like the title of the post, it's perfect for this photo.

  19. Very interesting photo, Eric! I wonder what they were for? A wedding, a concert, or a gathering for a time of silence? So many possibilities! But, isn't that the way it is in life?

Oh, your poor scooter! I do hope that before it is totally gone we will see a picture of your "helper" on PDP! And does it have a name? I always name my car, currently I have "Sasha". I would love a scooter, but then where would the kids sit? LOL

  20. Eric taking the metro?!! I can't even imaigne that... Might have a solution for you thoug (email).

A forest of chairs. Cool picture. It took me a few seconds to realize what it was.
It seems like the chairs are going to stay like that for the next few weeks: 10°C hail and rain tomorrow and for the rest of the week...
    Enjoy, Parisians!

  21. For some reason I cannot see this wonderful photo that everyone is raving about. It just doesn't show up on my computer screen. Help!

  22. Oh so sorry about your ride, Eric. I hope you get a replacement that you like soon. And sorry for you too, Petrea! I've been there and I'm sure it feels like forever. There are fewer options here than there are in Paris. I've got my fingers crossed for both of you.

  24. @Sab. ;-) Well, my lack of scooter prevents me from going quickly - and dangerously too, it's true... - everywhere I want. Therefore I miss photo opportunities. That's all.

@Wren " My town is the size of the 9th arr. or less! I'll have to try harder." ;-)

@Alexa. " Reminds me a bit of that shot you took of the cafe chairs stacked up in the Place des Vosges a long time ago " Yes I do remember very well (but not the date I must say...)

Petrea "Eric, I sympathize, having been without a car in Los Angeles for more than two months." ???? Now that is a real challenge. I did not think it was even possible to live in LA without a car. Didn't you starve?!

    @Tomate "Metro shots" You bet!

@Louis. Really Chuck is THE expert? About your car suggestion... Well no thanks. I don't want a car!

@Tall Gary. You're right. I forgot about those... But well, I'm too old!

@Thib "So you have to switch to Velib', Eric!" No way! And why not join a gym while you're at it?! Or run the Marathon!

@Carine "Well, in the meanwhile, jkg is again right ;) Walking is good for the health!" Yeah yeah...

@Christie. No, sorry, no name. Mind you, come to think of it, today I have the perfect nema for it: "*à#~!%&!"

  25. BTW, there seem to be an obnoxious and noisy ad that triggers automatically when the page appears.

I'm sorry, I'm going to try and deactivate it.

  26. Not having a car makes me stay home and write. If I really must drive somewhere, I can drive my husband to work in the morning and pick him up at the end of the day, and get my errands finished in between. I am driving all day.
