Who wants to play hopscotch with me?

When I saw this hopscotch (la marelle in French) at first, I thought some kids had drawn it on the sidewalk. But when I looked closer I realized that it was an advertisement! The usual earth/sky is replaced with Paris/Cannes and there is a web address on the side of it. I managed to decipher it (teamdacr.com), but it leads to a dead site, so I'll never know what they advertise for (apparently a team of designers and writers, but it's pretty unclear). Anyway, the idea is good and, as you can see, it rained today in Paris! Have a nice week-end everyone ;-)

  1. Me !!! at anytime !!! It could last a long time, LOL!
Hopscotch is a new word for me but I played it hours when I was much younger, like every girl, I think. I love this path and this painting. I'm happy it is the week end even with the rain! I wish you the same.

  2. Technically speaking, it's a creative graffiti.
    But I like it. Ha!

Ironically, two years ago, there was festival in London called "Cans Festival" (I guess they copied the idea from Cannes Film Festival).

And the Can Festival was all about street graffiti!

Ah... Now I see the link.

  3. Oh yeah, I love this found art/artistic irony (coz it's not art at all, it's advertising, like you say)... And I also think hopscotch grids look quite cool and I've never EVER understood what you're supposed to do with them either, so all the more intrigue for me I suppose. Rain on!

  5. We used to love "Hopscotch" [la marelle] when we were young, but our Hopscotch was nowhere near as creative as this!! Love it!!

  6. Je ferai la marelle avec toi quand tu veux, Eric. And I agree with Shell (always)—the rain only adds to this photo.

  7. A couple nights ago, I was out walking the neighborhood. We had a few nice, warm days. On the sidewalk were children's drawings in chalk. I love child chalk art. And I love watching children play hopscotch. It is so low-tech, natural, athletic. That a website is attached to it is therefore ironic.

  8. I bet that doesn't stop the kids from playing on it!

  9. Me! I would love to play hopscotch in Paris! (Or go jump-roping, or skipping down the street, or any of the myriad fun things that children do and you can do as an adult if you have a child with you. Or things that you do when you just want to have fun and you don't care if people think you're silly.) ;)

  10. Graffiti? Art? Advertisement? In this world we live in these worlds often collide. Like the shot.

  11. Love this hopscotch.
Reminds me kind of a best moment in the past, not so far.
Past, present and future times all lead me to the same desire: sharing games and people we love to be with :)

  12. Everyone's happy hopscotch memories stir mine, too. But we didn't put any words at the top and bottom of the grid.

Is there a particular story passed down about the 'heaven' and 'earth' designations? Or, is it just passed down as "how you make the hopscotch board"? And now I must go look up why it's called hop (which I get)-scotch (which I don't)!!

  13. Me! Playing hopscoth in Paris is definately enjoyable and special!
That photo reminded me that I haven't played hopscoth for quite many years, but I would done it. As I'm only 16 years old and quite short, I think it wouldn't look strange if I start playng in the centre of the town for example :D

The idea of that kind of advertisment is really clever and catches eye!

  16. I agree with Jeff--children (and perhaps adults too)should play more hopscotch and get off these darned machines. Now, I'll take my own advice and hop outta here.
