Rider in the storm...

... Well OK, it's not really a storm but a little rain, but I did not resist borrowing my title from the Doors! Anyway I took this shot today rue Beaubourg, and, as you can see, the rain has returned in Paris. Some people don't care, they just open their umbrella, even if they're on a bike ;-) Cute.

  2. Great shot! I'm sure I'd be too scared to ride one-handed on city streets, though.

  3. We had a soggy day here in Boston, too. :-)

  4. Love the little Eiffel Towers on her umbrella -- subtle, and stylish. It was hot in SF today. The first really hot day all summer as we have been under the fog.

Unemployment is still high in California, 12.3%. And what were people in SF doing today -- I mean the unemployed people. They were having a demonstration, of course. But, not for jobs, for the right for women to be in public topless. This is really lame. One, because SF is one of the coldest cities.

Oh, and I like the comment, "Not because men want to see them, the protesters said. For justice." LOL, give me a F**king break.

  5. Wow. One handed biking, and in Paris, no less.
    Gutsy! Great catch, Eric!

Merci Eric.

  8. Perfect picture, Eric. The lady is sharp, the background not. Impressive! Cheers from rainy Pays Bas,

  9. Great song, Eric!

This lady is brave, riding so casually in Paris! I think in Britain, she'd be stopped under health & safety guidelines or the Road & Traffic Act or the Not Riding Whilst Holding an Umbrella Act or some such law! If she was riding fast, she could be prosecuted under the ancient 'Pedalling Furiously' legal charge. Yes, there is one. lol. Crazy Britain. Thank goodness she's in Paris.

  10. LOL, Lynn! She is a brave woman, but I notice that she has taken precautions--she has made sure that the wheel is covered so that she won't get her skirt caught in it (very smart) and she is not wearing heels as she rides (also very smart!). Very Cute.

  11. Reminds me of a clown in a circus, they ride on funny bikes with umbrellas, don't they?
Still, if the brakes fail she can always use the brolly as a sort of air brake.
On the other hand, a strong gust of wind and.........

  12. Very very well captured. Though, she missed something only passing by you and not looking on her right! Lol.
To see without being seen is a true art in photographies. A coolness that I often wish I have.

Lynn, I'd be scary riding in Britain, though I'd love to! But you know how the French law is much more codified than the Common Law is (well if my memories are right). So maybe it would be easier to the French policemen to charge! I don't really know who would be the worst or the best ;D

  16. My fellow flight attendants got drenched walking around yesterday, but I woke up too late and missed all the bad weather. My hair on the otherhand, was voluminous due to the humidity.
Talk about regulations!!!! Our bus was pulled over by the police Mon. morning as we were at the Metz-Nancy Marne-laVallee-Creteil Charenton Bercy 2 sign (A4) if anyone knows where that is. Aparently, there have been a number of deaths due to cars changing lanes, and they are cracking down on buses. They gave our driver a ticket for a first aid kit that had expired ON SUNDAY,and for not driving in the correct lane for a bus. I took pictures of the police and of the signs showing where we were for AN HOUR. The funny part? When the policeman walked on board and said bienvenue to each of us!!! You can't take the politeness out of the French!(I would post the pix but I don't know how)

  17. I shocked to notice that the dame is not wearing a helmet!
Having had a serious accident in which I flew over the handlebars, I can attest to the worth of the discomfort of wearing one. My head actually bounced, but I was fine. Not so my fractured hip.
    Oh, BTW Eric, fun foto!
Stef, in Chicago, along the bike clogged Lake path!
