Will the Artist make it?

10 Oscar nominations, no less! That's what French film The Artist got, on top of 3 Golden globes. Needless to say we are pretty proud, for not only do (the French) love actor Jean Dujardin, but on top of that very few movies make it to the international scene like this one. Of course, some will argue that having success with a silent black and white movie taking place in Hollywood is not exactly representative of modern French cinema, but who cares LOL! All I can say is... Good luck to The Artist. I took this photo at Boulevard Saint Germain, by the way.

  4. Good catch, ETSuzy. I read about that Eli. No comment.

The film is not exactly representative of modern cinema period, which is why I think it deserves to win in every category nominated. Plus, I really wanna see Uggie onstage with Oscar.

  5. I saw it Monday and want to see it again. It's a beautiful movie and I'm hoping Jean Dujardin wins the Oscar, he was that good in it. The whole movie was so good, it deserves to win as well.

  6. I agree with Eric, it is hard for non English films to make it to the international "hype".

This film poster would sure make a good "Welcome to Paris" sign :)

  9. Great idea Martin! Lovely photo, Eric - very Parisian winter feel and terrific lines.

I love to take photos with movie or other ad campaigns in them when I travel. They're a great way to establish when the trip was by just using imagery and it also brings in other memories of the era due to the film or event being part of the 'zeitgeist'.
