I'm just back from the 2012 Paris White Dinner Party! Those who've been following PDP for some time now are familiar with this event. People who are invited are asked to dress in white and to go to particular meeting points in Paris (generally around a beautiful location, like the Place des Vosges this time ). At the very last moment they get notified where to install their table and chairs! It's as simple as that, but as there are hundreds of guests, it's a little complicated to organize (not to mention that it is also forbidden to do such a thing without notifying the Paris Police department!). Anyway, like always I took a lot of photos and even video clips, but you will have to wait a little... UPDATE : An Animoto and a video are available in the right column of this blog.

Yay!! I love this event even though I have never had the good fortune to be invited. It always sounds like so much fun from your descriptions. It seems like it keeps getting bigger and bigger every year - can't wait to see your pix and video.
ReplyDeleteSo that's what Thib and Eric were talking about yesterday! Its so beautiful here. It does seem like the police look the other way each year...thankfully! Can't wait to see the other pix and the vid.
ReplyDeleteHas it been a year already!?! We are so fortunate to have you on the inside track with this event. I hope you had fun!!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love it! Maybe I'll get to go next year (work on an invitation for me, Eric!)

Beautiful!! It is just gorgeous, and looks like you had a gorgeous night for the party. Hope you enjoyed yourself immensely!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. One of these days...
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for sharing once again, Eric! I love the guy standing in the fountain staring at his mobile phone and the rest of the people are paying him no attention whatsoever! (How did he get up there anyway??)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this event but I need to read more about it. What a cool concept!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I love about Paris, there's always something fun going on.
Yes, it's really fun and seems to attract more and more people each year (which may not be a good thing though!!)
ReplyDelete@Carrie, you're right, that's what we were talking about ;-)
ReplyDeleteI also love the wine and champagne bottles kept cool in the fountain !!!
ohh..one of my favourite places in Paris...
ReplyDeletePlace des Vosges..so beautiful...
what a nice event to be there..lucky for you Eric****
Merci
@Thib. "I also love the wine and champagne bottles kept cool in the fountain !!!" Y a pas ça à Cherverny LOL!
ReplyDelete@Eric : il y avait du champagne (rosé !). Mais pas dans la fontaine, c'est vrai ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. I miss Paris. I stayed less than 100 meters or so from Place de Vosges. What a beautiful place!
ReplyDeletePaz :)
Beautiful location for the event.
ReplyDeleteThink the guy standing on the fountain lowers the tone somewhat. He deserves to be given the wrong location for next year's event.
Nice to see those old white 70's disco suits get an airing. Was there a lingering scent of mothballs in the evening air?
Oh I'm glad I waited for the videos before commenting! Both are excellent, but I love the music on the Animoto. And of course the photos Eric!
ReplyDeleteThe main photo with the guy standing on the fountain is a classic. I should really go to this one year. How come I never get invited?! :-)
@Drummond "
ReplyDeleteNice to see those old white 70's disco suits get an airing. Was there a lingering scent of mothballs in the evening air?" LOOOOOOOOOL! Not really...
*LOVE* this!
ReplyDeleteMichael, I think the reason you don't get invited is because of the people you hang around with!
ReplyDeleteIs that a wine bottle in the fountain? Well, I guess that's one way to keep it cold. :)
ReplyDeleteMerci for sharing Eric -- I always love a party -- even virtual parties!
@monnica... "It seems like it keeps getting bigger and bigger every year..." Right, I went to a White Dinner Party in Paris in 2006, and it was a smaller party back then.
ReplyDeleteI love your life!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I was in Paris my wife and I saw this group of people dressed all in white on a beautiful boat. We wondered what was going on. You may have well solved the question that was written in my journal. We're off to Paris again this summer. As we heard someone say one night there, "If you're tired of Paris, you're tired of life." How true!
ReplyDeleteI love this....what a fab idea...champagne, great food even candles on the table!
ReplyDelete@Jeff...I think you're right.
ReplyDelete@Ron...you might be disappointed. I doubt they could fit that many people on a boat. The participants (ahem...of which I'm not) get a text message about an hour before the event to tell them where to meet so am guessing organising a boat might be a bit difficult.
@Anne Reeves...if you only knew!
