Ask any Parisian what he thinks of the weather at the moment and he will probably go "pfffffff" and raise his/her eyes meaning "I cannot take this cold and this rain anymore!". And believe me, that is exactly how I would behave if you asked me the question! There is a upside to it though: it allowed me to make this cool photo... You will all have recognized the Place Saint Sulpice I'm sure... And no, the lady in the photo is not Catherine Deneuve, even though she lives right there, in one of the buildings in the background!
I can feel the dampness and chill from the picture. Love the pop of green from the bus in the background too. It looks like someone put down a coat of wax where the lady is walking. Eric, I hope you gave a big wave to Catherine as you were taking the photograph! still have to say, Paris is absolutely gorgeous no matter what weather. Anne

DeleteThe new blog format really does justice to this photograph. I want to stare at it all day. Last night in Manhattan there was an alumni gathering for the American University of Paris and it was delight to be in a roomful of Francophiles talking about our long-past student days...this photo brings those days back to me, when I thought there was nothing more romantic than to be lonely on a rainy day in Paris. And of course everyone spoke about the weather, in France and in New York -- it's been a long, long Winter for everyone. I just hope you all can ditch the overcoats when it comes time for your picnic.
