Théâtre du gymnase

Here is a theater I've been willing to show you for a very long time. But each time I tried to photograph it, they had scaffolding on it! Yesterday evening, I finally managed ! It's called Le Théâtre du Gymnase and it's a beautiful little theater. It was inaugurated in 1820 (it's located in the theater district, along what is usually called Les Grands Boulevards) and its facade has recently been totally renovated.

  1. Very cool, but what on God's green earth are "Crazy Caramels"?

    1. It's a play on words: there is a famous kind of toffee called Caramels mous (soft caramels)...

  2. I recall these scaffolds there. I'm glad it's open. Looks nice.

Yesterday's post: Ah, food debates. Every culture has meals that other cultures find distasteful.

About La Terasse, from Sunday's post. The first time I was in Paris I found myself there having a glass of wine after a very long day. I believe I had come from the top of le Tour Eiffel, which is an exhausting day right there, considering the long wait, the cattle herd of people, etc. I walked down the street to a phone booth (remember those?) and called Craig and Karen. It was their last night in Paris. I jumped on the Metro and we had dinner at that chain Leon de Bruxelles for mussels. Ok, ok, not Cordon Bleu, but it was fun.

    2. @ jeff

About food debates, my comment was not on meals "tasteful" or "distasteful": the fact is that the production of foie gras entails torture to animals, which is totally deplorable. As I said, the shameful production of foie gras must be banned as soon as possible all over the world.

Please, visit the page APRL - FOIE GRAS

  3. Charming theatre frontage. Well worth the wait.

Les Caramels Fous are an all male song and dance troupe. You can look them up on You Tube.

  4. You always get a twofer in PDP -- in this one it's two treats: the architecture and the Crazy Caramel mystery. I'm going to look them up on you tube (thanks, Drummond) but now I also wonder if there is another layer of meaning behind the caramel and the crazy thing.
