Don't go thinking that you're going to be spoiled with Eiffel Tower fireworks photos everyday!! Time to come back to reality... Interesting reality though. Yesterday, I was wandering in the Tuileries gardens in search for photo ops and I was intrigued by this T-shirt. "The world is our classroom" it said. I first thought this guy was a bit of a brown nose (un fayot, in French!), that he was so happy in his classroom that he did not need to discover the world! and it turns out that it's exactly the contrary. The world is our classroom is a non profit organization (part of the "Competitive Edge Charter Academy (CECA)" if I understood well) and its aim is to create a learning environment where students develop international awareness. Not bad...

ReplyDeleteThis ties right into the Global Engagement Night that Megan started on the Ohio State University campus. It brings domestic and international students together to gain a better understanding of each other. Thanks for reminding us that we are all one in the crazy little world.
ReplyDeleteAT least some people are trying!
DeleteIt's a great idea. I'd like to go back to school now.
ReplyDeleteLOL. But you can Petrea, you can...
DeleteI've looked at the web-site and I'm so pleased that at least some of our US cousins realise that another language is something worth learning. Not what they are best known for. I do hope it catches on...
ReplyDeleteLOL V! Well, the thing is that when you speak English you probably tend to wonder why learn another language, since everybody speaks it!
DeleteAnd though a language is much more than just a "thought vehicle"...
I agree with V, though. Learning another language shows respect for another culture. It can go a long way toward good relations.
DeleteAs it should be! These are lucky kids; hope they realize it.
ReplyDeleteYou bet!
