Well, well, well... There was no way I could get away with my abdomen ache that easily! Turns out that I have gall bladder stones (yes stoneS!) and that they have to remove them. Am I happy to have surgery? No... But it's really nothing compared to what I imagined! The funny thing is that I managed to take a photo of where I'm staying for the next I don't know how many days. Don't worry though this is a very old sign that they kept for the scenery, my hospital is much more modern than this!
I'm so sorry for you, Eric. And I'm very glad that the gall stones aren't as bad as what you were imagining, though anything that requires surgery is bad enough. You are truly one of the good people, carrying on to bring us our daily dose of Paris even though you require hospitalization. (Even without that, you're one of the good people.) I wish you an easy surgery and a very fast recovery. Sending all good thoughts to you.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I have a friend who had gallstone surgery. The food she ate was "too rich". I hope you will be back clicking about in no time. In the meantime, take it easy and get well soon!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Eric. No surgery is trivial. I hope you are up and about quickly.
ReplyDeleteSorry. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I'm so sorry. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery. I'm sending all sorts of New Mexico touchy-feely, new-agey healing vibes your way.

ReplyDeleteAnd it's so like you to post a photo, even when you're going in the hospital! Although the old sign is a beauty, I'm glad to hear you're being treated in a more modern medical facility. :)
I'm sending special gallstone-shrinking, feel-good, get-well-soon thoughts your way. Take care and mend quickly, mon ami!
ReplyDeleteYour cup half full attitude is inspirational to say the least dear Eric!
ReplyDeleteHugs, prayers and blessings are being sent your way.
We all feel the same, Eric. Take care and feel better soon. And I know it's sacrilege to say so, but maybe don't worry about posting photos while you're in surgery?

Eric - I'm so sorry to hear of your illness. I haven't been able to comment for a long time, but this has brought me out of the woodwork. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. : )
ReplyDeleteOh my, I never expected to see this! Speedy recovery, sir!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhh Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just opened PDP and saw all your comments. I'll read them more in detail tomorrow, but just for now let's say that everything is OK, I haven't been operated yet because my gall bladder is too inflamed, but they're working on it.
ReplyDeleteIt also allows me to discover a world that I have carefully tried to avoid for as many years as possible (!) ; the dying guy next to you who makes you realize how lucky you are to only have gallstones problems, the wonderful, amazing nurses who do the dirty (literally!) job day and night with a nice word for everyone, the doctors who think you can read their mind and who will allow you at least a 30 sec question session! and... the endless list of electronic gadgets that are to be found in hospital nowadays!
More tomorrow, I have to sleep!
Thank you again everyone, it's very very thoughtful.
Yes it IS another world you're right! When you're feeling not so bad, it's actually quite interesting. Let's hope that day comes soon dear Eric, it'll all be behind you and all you have to do is to rest, then. In the meantime, I'm sure we're all glad you are looking in from there. Dare we hope for a pic a la Tenin perspective??! Prends soin de toi xx
DeleteGet well soon!!
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry to hear about this.
ReplyDelete'This, too, shall pass' doesn't seem to apply to gallstones. :( I'm sorry to hear you're heading in for surgery, Eric. Sending love and best wishes for a quick recovery {and tasty food when you're ready for it again!}
ReplyDeleteOh Eric! For many months I have wanted to reach out to say hello and thank you for your daily efforts to delight so many! Only recently have I discovered your wonderful site (when pining for Paris, bien sur). I am in awe of your commitment and talent!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon - I send you warm, healing wishes from Washington, DC (fun to see where so many of your fans live!).
Barbara and I wish you a speedy and full recovery. Your PDP fans will understand if your posting fall behind for a few days. Get better soon and back out on the streets of Paris.
ReplyDeleteEd & Barbara in Atlanta.
Wishing you a quick surgery and a very speedy recovery! Feel better soon, (and not just because we want more pictures, it's because we really care!)

ReplyDeleteSo did the doctor mention the words "McDo" or "Picard" by chance Eric? Let's hope you don't have to stay stuck in a hot French hospital too long and you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteBeen there, done that. If your surgery is by laparoscope, you will be back on the street in no time--maybe 2-3 days. Yes! It means, however, in the future you need to watch out for food with a high fat content--you won't have a gall bladder to process all that cholesterol in the wonderful French food. Good luck, and I'm sure you will come through with flying colors.
