I'm not in Paris right now (I took a few days of vacation in the South of France), but I keep reading the news... I just heard that there has been riots in the suburbs of Paris. It often happens in the summertime when the weather is hot, people are out, on vacation, drinking, etc. Anyway it made me think of a photo I took at the Tuileries gardens amusement park a few days ago: people "fighting" for their way among bumper cars (autos tamponeuses)! I know it's a little far fetched, but that is all I have handy right now to illustrate these much less amusing riots! Have a good - and possibly cool - Sunday everyone.

No riots in Haninge tonight, but a couple of teenagers are doing their best to break into a little warehouse at the school as I'm typing this.
ReplyDeleteAnd did they succeed?!
DeleteIn the U.S., when something is really funny (like a comic movie), or an activity is a lot of fun, we say "It's a riot!" So there you go. Bumper cars are a riot!
ReplyDeleteLOL. I did not think of that Tamera, but that IS a good one!
DeleteOh how this brings back fond memories of my childhood back in the 50's when I would go to Coney Island outside Cincinnati, Ohio! The electrical contact with the metal floor generates an unique smell. But the best thing was working out your aggressions on total strangers as well as your friends. And being a victim yourself. bam! I don't know if we have this ride anywhere still in the US. Nice bit of blurr in the photo gives a bit of the action. Like the color.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a well earned and deserved vacation. (All your followers all jealous!) Show us some pix!
You described the principal of this "game" perfectly I must say. These bumper cars show how much aggressiveness we can have deep inside LOL.
DeleteI'm in Nice, partly working, partly vacationing, so yes, I'm having a good time thank you ;-) I'll show you pics later ;-)
Autos tamponeuses = dodgems in GB (I suppose = "dodge them").
ReplyDeleteUtterly wonderful for children, as I remember.
Dodgems?! Interesting I never heard that name before (mind you I've never driven - is that really driving?! - a dodgem in England either ;-)
DeleteI hated these bumper cars when I was a kid—now I know that I have a driving phobia, so I guess that explains it. Anyway, I totally get your comparison: dodgems and riots = both scary! Hope you're having a lovely, peaceful time where you are.
